摘要: A video-coding apparatus acquires apparatus information from a connected external apparatus and automatically registers the external apparatus. Programs may be encoded in a file format appropriate for at least one external apparatus registered for the same program. A coded video file may be generated and stored. When the external apparatus is connected, a previously generated coded video file may be selected for playback by the external apparatus.

A recording and reproduction apparatus 100 includes an encoder 101, a transcoder 102, an intermediate information storage memory 105, a stream storage memory 106, a compression expansion means 107, an input image storage memory 108, and a user interface 110. When performing encoding in an encoder 104 with a second compressive encoding method, the intermediate information is read from the intermediate information storage memory 105, processed into a utilizable format, and utilized during encoding with the second compressive encoding method.

摘要: A decoder apparatus which includes a de-multiplexer, which is configured to divide motion picture data from a transport stream, a video decoder, which is configured to decode the divided motion picture data, and a first re-formatter on-screen unit, which is configured to display motion picture data and at least one of first and second graphic data on a screen. The first re-formatter on-screen unit converts motion picture data of a first aspect ratio, which is decoded by the video decoder, and first graphics data, which is produced by applying information relating to a caption corresponding to the motion picture data, into a second aspect ratio, when outputting the motion picture data of the first aspect ratio after conversion into the second aspect ratio, without converting the aspect ratio of second graphic data, which is produced by applying information relating to a program guide.

摘要: An information recording/reproducing apparatus capable of simplifying settings of a scene breakpoint includes a voice recognition unit and a control unit. At a timing when the voice recognition unit extracts a feature during recording, the control units sets a scene breakpoint and generates a thumbnail at the same time. During reproduction, the thumbnail and voices when the feature was extracted are output at the same time.

摘要: In increasing multi-channel broadcast situations, user friendliness is insufficient in that digest information can not be generated to satisfy users' demands to record two contents which are broadcast at the same time. In a reproduction apparatus which simultaneously records a plurality of digital video signals and creates a digest of each of the signals to shorten the reproduction time, particular frames of input digital video signals are recorded on a recording medium as reproduction position information. A first decoder decodes the digital video signals as a whole, and a second decoder decodes only digital video signals associated with the reproduction position information. The output of the second decoder is used as a digest generation signal of a digest generation module.

摘要: An image transmission device compresses and transmits image data to be sent and cannot correct errors occurring on the transmission path when image data to be transmitted is larger than a currently prescribed image size. In an image receiving device which receives compressed image data, data to be inputted is inputted by switching between first periods, during which the amount of data transmitted per prescribed time interval is a first data transmission amount, and second periods, during which the amount of data transmitted per prescribed time interval is less than the first data transmission amount. Compressed image data is inputted during the first periods, and error correction codes are inputted during the second periods, and a control unit expands the output of an error detection unit by means of an expansion unit and outputs the same.

摘要: The present invention provides an image decoder which decodes a stream encoded with standard resolution and transforms it into a high-definition image with a better image quality. An intra-field pixel interpolation module generates an interpolated pixel using pixels in a field. An inter-field pixel interpolation module generates an interpolated pixel using pixels from another field. A weighted averaging module refers to the prediction mode used in predictive encoding for the coded stream. If the prediction mode is a field prediction mode, it increases the mixture ratio of interpolated pixels generated by the intra-field pixel interpolation module, and if the prediction mode is a frame prediction mode, increases the mixture ratio of interpolated pixels generated by the inter-field pixel interpolation module.
