摘要： A method of optimizing photodynamic therapy in which retained concentrations of photosensitizers administered are measured on a real time basis by percutaneous measurements of fluorescence. A light weight hand held fluorometer is used to percutaneously measure fluorescence emitted by photosensitizers in a tissue situs that is subject to photodynamic therapy. The use of real time determinations of the concentration of photosensitizers allow optimization of illumination intensity and duration.

摘要： The present invention provides a method of transferring incoming multithreaded concurrent sets of data from a sending transport system to a requesting transport system which includes retrieving the sets of data from the sending transport system. A receiving queue is queried for a number of available data storage locations, and the sets of data being transferred to the receiving queue. The method further includes queuing the sets of data in the receiving queue, where each the set of data are divided into blocks of data. Then, determining a number of the data storage locations for storing the blocks of data. Next, the blocks of data are loaded into available data storage locations, and location indexes are provided for each of the blocks of data where the location indexes associate the block of data with a corresponding the storage location. The method then includes sending the sets of data to the requesting transport system by transmitting associated data in the storage locations, and indicating the storage location is available for storing other the blocks of data.

摘要： Weightlifting apparatus, especially for performing curling exercises, includes a rectangularly shaped frame having weights mounted on opposite extremities thereof. Gripping handles are secured to and disposed within a pair of spaced apart rings which are rotatably mounted within the frame. A cable trained around and interconnecting the rings synchronizes the rotation of the handles. A spring interconnecting the rings applies a biasing force resisting rotation of the handles.

摘要： A sludge agitating method includes a support platform attached to pontoons for floating on a body of water, such as a waste water treatment facility lagoon, a paddle wheel, and a paddle wheel drive train for moving the platform across the surface of the water, an air distribution pipe, including a plurality of air outlets, movable in a vertical direction into and out of the lagoon, and an air compressor positioned atop the support platform and having an air outlet hose coupled to the air distribution pipe. The air distribution pipe is attached to the ends of two slide members which are attached to one end of the support platform. Initially, with the air distribution pipe positioned slightly below the top layer of sludge, as pressurized air is delivered to the air distribution pipe, the surrounding sludge is agitated and mixed with the surface water. Gradually, as the sludge is agitated, the air distribution pipe is lowered deeper and deeper into the sludge, continuing to agitate and mix the lower levels of gelled sludge with the thinned, agitated mixture of sludge and water positioned thereabove. While this agitating and mixing is occurring, the sludge agitating apparatus moves back and forth over the surface of the lagoon in a radiating pattern around a sludge pumping station. As the sludge agitating apparatus moves toward the pumping station, thinned, pumpable sludge is drawn toward the pumping station and pumped from the lagoon.

摘要： The present invention comprises compounds of the formula ##STR1## and the biologically acceptable acid addition salts thereof, wherein R.sub.1 represents an alkylene having 2-4 carbon atoms; R.sub.2 is selected from the group consisting of amino and quanyl; R.sub.3 is selected from the group consisting of nitrophenyl, methylnitrophenyl, dinitrophenyl, naphthyl and nitronaphthyl; X represents halo or lower alkyl having 1-4 carbon atoms; and n is 3 or 4. The compounds of the present invention are analytical reagents useful for measuring proteolytic enzymes such as thrombin and trypsin. The enzymatic hydrolysis of the invention compounds provides a chromogenic amine by which the proteolytic enzyme concentration can be determined spectrophotometrically.
