Abstract: A fibre-optic sensor package (10) comprises a serial array of fibre-optic sensing coils (14, 16, 18, 20, 22) each of which is comprised in a respective fibre-optic sensor. Four (14, 16, 18, 22) of the coils are housed in a protective casing (24). One of the coils (22) is comprised in a fibre-optic electromagnetic field sensor. The other coils are comprised in respective fibre-optic geophones and/or hydrophones. A single package of the invention allows detection of both seismic and electromagnetic signals. An array of packages of the invention provides detection of both seismic and electromagnetic signal at a series of positions over a long distance or wide area, thus avoiding the need for two conventional arrays. A packages of the invention, and an array of such packages, require little or no electrical power input.

Abstract: Systems and methods for profiled and focused searching of litigation information allow a user to access specific legal information for use during litigation. The user can connect to a web site and access particular information from multiple sources based on the litigation task the user wishes to accomplish One litigation task is to create a litigation profile for a target, such as a particular litigant, attorney, judge, court, or firm. In this way, the user can perform focused and task-based searching to receive information about particular filings in particular locations, made by particular entities without knowing which sources contain certain pieces of the litigation information. For example, the user can receive all documents relating to summary judgment for patent infringement filed by a particular attorney in a particular court without specifying the source of information. In one aspect, the user can also access the source(s) upon receiving the results.

Abstract: System, method and computer program product for recovering from a failure of a computing device. Start up of a first component of the device is monitored and a determination is made whether the first component has started successfully. If so, a second, higher level component of the device is started. Operational data received from the second component is monitored. If the operational data falls outside of an operational boundary, an action is performed on the second component to enable the second component to operate within a preferred operational boundary. If the first component does not start up successfully, a determination is made if start up of the first component is critical to operation of the second component. If so, a corrective action is performed relative to the first component and afterwards, an attempt is made to start up the second component.

Abstract: A device suitable for removing material from a living being is provided, featuring at least an aspiration pump, powered by a motor. The aspiration pump and any optional infusate pump preferably feature a helical pumping mechanism, and operate at a high rate of rotation, thereby ensuring adequate pumping performance and flexibility. The helical pumping mechanism may be a helical coiled wire about a central core tube. The helical coil wire, whether together with, or independent of, the core tube, may be rotated to cause a pumping action. Additionally, a narrow crossing profile is maintained, ensuring that the device may reach more tortuous regions of the vasculature. In one embodiment, the system comprises a wire-guided mono-rail catheter with a working head mounted on a flexible portion of the catheter that can laterally displace away from the guide wire to facilitate thrombus removal. The working head may be operated to separate and move away from the guide wire to come within a closer proximity of the obstructive material to more effectively remove it from the vessel.
