Abstract:
A film-forming composition containing a broad spectrum antimicrobial as an antimicrobial agent. The composition forms a film which is a substantially fluid-resistant, substantially tack-free, flexible film which adheres to skin and releases the antimicrobial agent to skin. A method of using the film-forming composition is also disclosed.
Abstract:
A tube bank arrangement comprising a plurality of concentric coils provided with spacing means and including, for each coil, at least one spacer bar extending parallel to the axis of the tube bank. The spacer bar being aligned with the spacer bar of the next adjacent coil and including radially extending lugs mounted on one of the two adjacent spacer bars and straddling the coil segments passing therebetween. The lugs maintaining the spacing between adjacent spacer bars and cooperating with a locking strip to secure the coil segments to the associated spacer bar.
Abstract:
Skin antiseptic composition dispensers and methods of use are disclosed. The skin antiseptic composition dispenser may include a container with one or more walls that are substantially impermeable to ethylene oxide gas during normal ethylene oxide sterilization processes. In some embodiments, the container may include flexible walls free of metallic foil barrier layers. The containers may also include one or more vents in addition to one or more openings used to dispense the skin antiseptic composition within the container. The dispenser may include an applicator with a hydrophilic foam.

Abstract:
A liquid applicator is provided which is particularly useful in applying preoperative surgical scrubs or paints to skin. The article is provided with an inner layer of flexible porous material and an outer layer of open cell foam sponge material. The flexible, porous layer regulates the flow of liquid therethrough to provide acceptable wetting of the foam sponge while preventing dripping therefrom. The applicator includes a means of maintaining atmospheric pressure within the applicator while the liquid is being dispersed.
Abstract:
The disclosed conformable coating provides a highly durable and resilient film useful for protecting and repairing surfaces such as skin and mucous membranes. A conformable coating composition comprises an elastomer, a volatile liquid, wherein the volatile liquid is at least 40% wt. of the total composition and the composition has a viscosity less than 1,000 cps. Disclosed is a conformable film that comprises an elastomer on a substrate, wherein the coating weight is from 1 to 30 mg/in2, and wherein the film has less than 75% failure at 100% elongation.
Abstract:
A dermatologically acceptable, film-forming composition which comprises a film-forming polymer and, as a broad spectrum antimicrobial agent, iodine which forms a complex with the film-forming polymer. The compositions when applied to skin from a fugitive solvent form a substantially water-insoluble, tack-free, flexible film which adheres to skin, releases the antimicrobial agent when the film is in contact with skin, and exhibits an elongation of at least about 150%. A method of using the composition is also described.
