Abstract: A controller selectively connecting and disconnecting extensions from a telephone line includes a plurality of extension connector ports selectively connected to a communication device and a plurality of relay switches. Each relay switch has three terminals and a toggle movable between connecting the first and second terminals and connecting the first and third terminals. Each first terminal is connected to a respective extension connector port. A processor is connected to an outside telephone line. Entry of a predetermined command code prevents use of the communication device connected to selective toggles. A plurality of tone detector modules each generate a command signal controlling the processor to connect a respective extension to the outside telephone line. A plurality of tone location identifiers are each activated upon receipt of a control signal from the respective tone detector module for generating a unique signal by which the processor distinguishes the extension connector ports.

Abstract: A ventilation fan assembly (10) having a fan (22) mounted in a housing (12) and a shutter assembly (60). The housing has a square inlet portion (12C), a circular center portion (12E) and a conical outlet portion (12D) having rifling grooves (20). The shoulder (16) formed between the inlet portion and the center portion is radiused to reduce disruption of air flowing from the inlet portion to the center portion. The shape of the blades (32) of the propeller (28) is such that the axial velocity produced as the propeller rotates is essentially constant along the length of the blades. The shutter assembly has a large, radiused entrance and airfoil shaped blades which reduce air disruption. The blades have a flexible flap (68) along the trailing edges (64D) which form a seal between adjacent blades to prevent air from leaking from the housing through the shutter assembly.

Abstract: A method and apparatus disclosed may be implemented in a digital computer to query a set of arbitrarily structured records. Arbitrarily structured records are structured differently from each other. A query engine, query structure, operators of conventional and non-conventional types may be used in formulating a query. The apparatus may evaluate records having missing fields, repeating fields, or an UNKNOWN value arising from a missing field, division by zero, modulo by zero, or the like. New aggregator (e.g. universal quantifier and existential quantifier) and selector operators (e.g., first, last, nth) may distill multiple values to return a single value. To evaluate a query, the search engine may implement filtered indices, alternate-key indices, compound alternate-key indices, hybrid queries having both full-text and non-full text operands, and joinder of records. Certain of these features may be implemented for evaluating records from both prior art databases and heterogeneous databases of arbitrarily structured records.

Abstract: A fluid valve with improved valve trim for reliable fluid shut off in high pressure applications. The improved valve trim includes a flexible metal seat with a lip portion which flexes outwardly upon sealing contact with a valve plug seating surface. Abstract: A mechanical device for abrading the surfaces of workpieces is disclosed in which a power driven perforated abrasive coated endless belt comes into intimate parallel contact with a rotatably driven slotted disc platen. The perforated abrasive coated endless belt is oriented so that its noncoated side contacts the slotted disc platen. The periodic alignment of the slots of the revolving disc platen with the perforations of the abrasive coated endless belt allows an operator to continually observe a workpiece while its surface is being abraded.

Abstract: An elongate, rigid blade holder has in its outer surface an elongate slot which is rectangular in cross section. An elongate, flexible squeegee blade has a first portion thereof extending downwardly into said slot and snugly between the sidewalls thereof. The remaining portion of the blade projects upwardly out of the slot and beyond the outer surface of the holder and has formed thereon at least one longitudinally extending printing edge. Each sidewall of the slot has formed in its upper edge a longitudinally extending recess opening on the outer surface of the holder and on opposite sides of the blade. Each of said recesses has an elongate, flexible blade locking rod removably press fit therein and frictionally engaged with the confronting side of the blade thereby removably securing the blade in the slot.
