Abstract: This disclosure relates generally to welding, and more specifically, to submerged arc welding (SAW). In an embodiment, a welding system includes a gas supply system configured to provide a gas flow. The system also includes a wire supply system configured to provide welding wire, and a flux supply system configured to provide flux near a welding arc during submerged arc welding (SAW). The system further includes a welding torch assembly configured to receive the gas flow and the welding wire and to deliver the gas flow and the welding wire near the welding arc during SAW.

Abstract: Illumination devices are provided. In one aspect, an illumination device includes a housing including a plurality of electrically conductive leads. The illumination device also includes a lens unitarily formed as one-piece with the housing and a first light source electrically coupled to at least one of the plurality of electrically conductive leads and positioned behind the lens. The first light source is adapted to emit light of a first color. The illumination device further includes a second light source electrically coupled to at least another one of the plurality of electrically conductive leads and positioned behind the lens. The second light source is adapted to emit light of a second color different than the first color. The illumination device is adapted to be coupled to a surface of a substrate and emit light through the lens generally parallel to the surface.

Abstract: A welding system includes an engine-driven welder generator that produces welding power. A welding torch receives the welding power and applies it to a stick electrode to initiate and maintain a welding arc. A parameter of the welding power, such as voltage, is monitored, such as to determine whether spikes occur during a short time after arc initiation. Based upon the monitored parameter, the engine speed is controlled. The engine speed may be increased or maintained at an elevated level if the monitored parameter indicates that particular types of electrode are being used, such as XX10 or cellulose electrodes.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for providing welding power is disclosed. It includes a transformer with a primary winding and an output secondary winding.
