摘要: The present invention is directed to hemostatic compositions comprising at least partially integrated agglomerated ORC fibers, fibrinogen, and thrombin and methods of forming a powdered hemostatic composition, comprising the steps of: forming a suspension of a mixture comprising particles of fibrinogen, thrombin, ORC fibers in a non-aqueous low boiling solvent, agitating and shearing said suspension in a high shear mixing reactor, adding water to allow particles to agglomerate, allowing the non-aqueous solvent to evaporate, drying and sieving the composition; and thus forming the powdered hemostatic composition.

摘要: A combined powder and liquid delivery device includes a housing having a powder chamber and a liquid chamber. The device includes an applicator tip having a powder delivery channel extending between a proximal end and a distal end of the applicator tip that is in fluid communication with the powder chamber, and a liquid delivery channel that extends from the proximal to the distal end of the applicator tip that is in fluid communication with the liquid chamber. The delivery device includes a powder inlet port in fluid communication with the powder chamber, and a liquid inlet port in fluid communication with the liquid chamber. A powder delivery system is in fluid communication with the powder inlet port, the powder chamber, and the powder delivery channel. A liquid delivery system is in fluid communication with the liquid inlet port, the liquid chamber, and the liquid delivery channel.

摘要: The present invention is directed to methods for the production of thrombin from a source of prothrombin using a given BaSO4 reagent as an adsorbent of prothrombin as well as methods for evaluating the suitability of a given BaSO4 reagent for use in preparation of thrombin. In at least one embodiment, the method includes contacting a sample of the given BaSO4 reagent with a source of prothrombin to obtain BaSO4-adsorbed prothrombin, and subsequently evaluating the pro-coagulant activity of the BaSO4-adsorbed prothrombin. In another embodiment, the method includes the step of evaluating relative to the pro-coagulant activity of normal mammalian plasma.
