Abstract:
A reflective road stud comprises a resilient shell having a recess in which a reflective device is mounted. In order that an block insert having an array of reflective elements may be used, a flange is formed integrally with the shell behind the recess, and the block insert is bonded to the flange. In order to provide for a self-wiping action, slots are formed between the shell and the sides of the flange, and a shearable connection is provided between the shell and the bottom of the flange. Upon shearing or cutting of the connection, a wiper lip is formed which wipes the reflective elements, upon depression of the shell by a vehicle tire. In an alternative embodiment the block insert is mounted on a flap behind the recess.
Abstract:
A roof ridge system includes an arrangement for weather-proofing the joints between ridge tiles and roof tiles and for providing ventilation to the roof space defined by such a system. The arrangement comprises between the ridge tiles and roof tiles, a perforated ventilator strip overlying and secured to a filler element profiled to conform with the profile of the roof tiles, the ventilator strip and profiled filler element defining therebetween air flow channels between the underside of the ridge tiles and outside atmosphere. The roof ridge system also includes, for supporting the ridge batten of the roof, a ridge batten with or without a support block adapted for mounting in the ridge bracket whereby the ridge tree batten can be supported at any one of three heights on the ridge. The roof ridge system also includes a ridge joint seal or gasket for sealing the joints of adjacent ridge tiles to prevent ingress of water and/or vermin. Finally, the roof ridge system includes a ventilation flow unit adapted to overlie the ridge tree batten and its securing brackets or brackets and support blocks.
Abstract:
A method is provided for selecting a stereoscopic pair of images, for example as they are captured by a camera or from an existing collection of captured images. A first image is selected and a cursor overlaid on the first image is aligned with an image feature. The cursor is then shifted by a predetermined amount and a second image is selected such that the cursor is overlaid on the second image and is substantially aligned with the feature.
Abstract:
Techniques are disclosed for reducing the visibility of crosstalk between images in a multiple view display for simultaneously displaying two or more images independently of each other for viewing in different directions by different viewers. A multiple view display typically comprises a liquid crystal panel (20) and a parallax barrier (21) forming a dual view display for two viewers. The panel (20) comprises an array of pixels of elongate shape and arranged so as to be elongate in the horizontal direction of the normal image orientation on the panel (20). Crosstalk compensation may be provided in a display controller for the display.

Abstract:
An apparatus (24) is provided for interlacing a plurality of input images (I0, I1) to form an output image (O). The interlacing apparatus (24) comprises a programmable memory (20) for storing one or more interlacing configuration patterns (P1, P2 and P3) which define a mapping from pixels of the input images (I0, I1) to pixels of the output image (O). The interlacing apparatus (24) also comprises a pixel data rearranger or interlacer (16) for rearranging pixel data in accordance with a pattern (P) stored in the memory (20). A pattern controller (18) is provided for selecting any one of the patterns (P1, P2 and P3) for use in the interlacer (16). Such an interlacing apparatus (24) can be used to drive a display device such as a multiple view directional display device or an autostereoscopic display device. A deinterlacer, an image compressor and an image decompressor are also provided.
Abstract:
A parallax barrier comprises evenly spaced groups of slits. Each group comprises two or more slits which are evenly spaced and the groups are spaced with a period which is greater than the product of the number of slits in each group and the slit period in each group. Such a barrier may be used with a spatial light modulator having columns of pixels whose structure cooperates with the barrier structure to provide a wider angle between views in a multiple view display, such as an autostereoscopic 3D display or a display providing two or more different views to two or more observers.
Abstract:
A coin apparatus in which coin conveyors convey coins along substantially vertical and horizontal planes to coin hoppers. A coin sensing unit having a rotary sweeping arm is used to determine characteristics of the coins so that the coins can be deposited in a correct one of the hoppers.
