摘要: The invention provides for improved welding of thermoplastic sheets by selectively reducing and optimizing the temperature gradient from the edge of the weld to the unheated body of the sheet by adding heating-surface-area, beyond that required to achieve a weld, to a heating tool for the purpose of raising the temperature of the material adjacent to and along the edge of the weld, in a controlled manner.

摘要: This disclosure relates to the production of an ultimately continuous weld between sheets of heat fusible material using a welding apparatus which includes a supporting frame and at least one assembly of electrodes mounted on the frame and being movable between positions in which the electrodes are biased towards each other and positions in which they are disengaged from each other, the apparatus being characterized in that the electrodes are movable longitudinally in the frame together with material being welded thereby during each welding cycle and the movement of the electrodes between welding cycles is such that each individual weld at least abuts the adjacent welds after passage of the material through the apparatus.
