Abstract:
Device for dispensing a plurality of unitary doses (2) of dry powder, comprising at least one support comprising conduits each defining a flow path for an airstream carrying one of the unitary dose (2), the support having first (26) and second (27) members secured to one another so that a first conduit portion (29) of the first member faces a second conduit portions (43) of the second member to define one of the conduits, and a first separation portion (30) of the first member faces a second separation portions (45) of the second member, the support comprising a plurality of barrier-forming elements (31, 46) each arranged between corresponding first (30) and second (45) separation portions to prevent dry powder from passing from one of the conduits to one of the adjacent conduits.
Abstract:
This invention relates to a device and method for aligning an optical fibre with an optical device in an opto-electronic package. The invention provides a device comprising a platform for mounting an optical device, to aid coupling of the optical device with an optical fibre in an opto-electronic package comprising a first part which is attachable to the opto-electronic package; a second part moveably attached to the first part such that the second part may only move with respect to the first part along a single axis, and in which the optical device is mountable on the second part. The invention also provides a method of aligning an optical fibre with an optical device in an opto-electronic package using such a platform.
Abstract:
An optoelectronic device, for example a laser diode transmitter or receiver module is disclosed having thermoelectric control of the operating temperature of the device.
Abstract:
A module houses an optical transceiver device and provides a dedicated heat-transfer environment for the device. A fan draws in ambient air and blows it through a heat exchanger and out an exhaust. Heat transfer is by conduction from the device into the heat exchanger through an opening in an EMI shield of the device. In some embodiments the fan is a pluggable unit, allowing quick replacement if status LEDs indicate a fault.
Abstract:
A circuit board (PCB) and connector design, which provides for better electrical connection between the PCB and its host, especially for when used in high-speed optical systems. The PCB has an electrical flex embedded within it. The flex is connected to electrical component located on the PCB by means of a via at one end and protrudes from the PCB at the other end. The connector has a flex connection means arranged to receive the flex protruding from the PCB.

Abstract:
An optical beam splitter arrangement comprising two beam splitter mounts one of which is turnable relative to the other by flexing a deformable connection. By controlling the turn angle of rotation it is possible to use the light reflected by one of the beam splitters to monitor the output power of a laser and to use the light reflected by the other beam splitter to monitor the wavelength transmitted by the laser.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method for monitoring the performance of a packing case seal, including a vent 24, 26 leading from the interior of the packing case and a gas meter 32 connectable to the vent 24, 26 to determine any gas flow through the vent 24, 26 over time.
