摘要: A system, apparatus, and method for making and implementing non-metallic fittings with non-metallic tubulars for high-pressure fluid transport. The apparatus includes a fitting formed from a body of non-metallic material that is tunneled and configured to receive non-metallic tubulars at standard and custom angles. The system includes multiple non-metallic tubulars and fittings that can be arranged at standard and custom angles, and, in some instances, be customized by pressure along the length of the transport line. Some of the fittings in the system can be hot-tapped. The methods include manufacture of the fittings and system and performing calculations to achieved selected pressure ratings.

摘要: An apparatus for manufacturing pipes using thermoplastic pipe and “tape” (continuous fiber, fully wetted in a similar thermoplastic as the pipe) that embeds its fibers into pipe surface. The thermoplastic pipe is mechanically compressed prior fiber tape being applied. Outer diameter reduction of the pipe is at least partly maintained by the fiber tape being tightly wrapped around the pipe immediately after compression causes the pipe to contract. Then, an external heat source is applied to the pipe causing the thermoplastic to melt and the pipe to undergo thermal expansion. Fibers stretch less and are embedded into the molten layer of the pipe, creating a permanent bond between the fibers and the pipe. Individual pipes may be joined using couplers or butt welds.

摘要: A process for manufacturing pipes using thermoplastic pipe and “tape” (continuous fiber, fully wetted in a similar thermoplastic as the pipe) that embeds the fibers into pipe surface. In one embodiment, an ambient temperature (72 degrees F.) tape is tightly wrapped around the cold pipe in a dry environment (relative humidity below 30). An external heat source is used to heat up the entire length of the pipe causing the thermoplastic to melt and the pipe to expand due to thermal expansion. Since the fibers have less stretch than the thermal expansion of the pipe the fibers will be embedded into the molten layer of the pipe, creating a permanent bond between the fibers and the pipe. A protective film is applied to the pipe. Portions of the tape and film are scraped from the surface of the pipe creating an area where the end of the pipe is coupled to another pipe using an electronic fusion coupler.

摘要: A process for joining thin walled non-metallic pipe using a tubular inner coupler. The inner coupler may be inserted into the pipe and bonded to the pipe. The inner coupler may include a shoulder to form an attachment point for clamping inner coupled pipe joints together. The pipe joint may be reinforced using a continuous fiber tape. The bonding may include electrofusion, adhesives, heating, and damping, of the inner coupler to the pipe.
