The portable electronic device body includes a connector, a charging unit, and an embedded controller. The embedded controller is used for detecting a capacity state of the rechargeable battery and whether the rechargeable battery is connected with the connector to determine whether the rechargeable battery needs to be charged. When the rechargeable battery does not need to be charged, the embedded controller controls the power adapter to output a first voltage via the control pin. When the rechargeable battery needs to be charged, the embedded controller controls the power adapter to output a second voltage via the control pin. The first voltage is lower than the second voltage.
