摘要: An imaging reader has a two-dimensional array of image sensors for capturing return light from a two-dimensional symbol over a field of view as pixel data to be stored in internal random access memory (RAM) of a controller even though the internal RAM has less storage bytes than the number of sensors. The controller determines a size and a location of the symbol in the field of view, maps and subdivides the symbol into a plurality of image capture zones based on the symbol size and location, sequentially captures the return light from each zone, sequentially stores the pixel data from each zone into the internal RAM, sequentially digitizes the stored pixel data from each zone as digitized data, and decodes the digitized data from all the zones.

摘要: A data capture terminal for, and a method of, automatically capturing data from targets located within a range of working distances from the terminal, employ a controller for automatically controlling a set of focal parameters of an imaging assembly, for storing one of the focal parameters of the imaging assembly upon a successful data capture from a first target, and for automatically selecting a subset of the focal parameters determined from the stored focal parameter to capture data from a second target. The subset is smaller than the set of the focal parameters and corresponds to a restricted zone within the range of working distances to enhance data capture performance of the terminal.

摘要: An imager in an imaging reader captures light from a target, generates image data from the captured light, and generates a pixel clock signal having a pixel clock frequency in synchronism with the image data. A controller is connected via an electrical conductor to the imager, and controls the imager to transfer the image data, receives the image data, and processes the image data. A circuit suppresses electromagnetic radiation generated by the conductor during the image data transfer, and includes a spread spectrum modulator for modulating the pixel clock signal to generate a variable spread spectrum signal having a spread spectrum frequency that periodically varies above and below the pixel clock frequency, and a buffer having a plurality of registers for receiving and temporarily storing the image data, and for varying as a function of the spread spectrum frequency how much of the image data is being temporarily stored.

摘要: Interleaving multiple logical data streams into one physical data stream reduces overhead required to process the multiple logical data streams. Multiple arrays of data values are interleaved into a combined array of data that simulates a frame of data for input to a data port such as a video port. Revised timing and synchronization signals are provided to permit transmission of the combined array according to video data port protocol. The processor includes instructions for locating the various arrays of data values within the combined array.

摘要: An automatic exposure system for an imaging-based bar code reader. The automatic identification system includes: an aiming apparatus generating a beam to aid in aiming the system at a target object when the system is actuated; an imaging system including a pixel array, a focusing lens to focus an image of the target object onto the pixel array; and an automatic exposure system to determine an integration time for capturing an image of the target object. The automatic exposure system determines an integration time by: projecting an aiming pattern on the target object and capturing an image of the aiming pattern; determining a target distance from the imaging system to the target object based on a location of the aiming pattern within the captured image; determining a gain-integration time product utilizing an equation wherein the gain-integration time product is a function of a predetermined target image brightness and the target distance; and determining the integration time by selecting a gain value and solving for integration time given the gain-integration time product.

摘要: An apparatus and method is disclosed to automate the measurement of the fluid levels of individual tanks used at the work site of an oil well. An ultrasonic transducer may be removably attached to each tank at the site. The fluid level of each tank may be determined from the time elapsed from the transmission of an ultrasonic signal from the transducer and when a signal reflected from the fluid is received at the transducer. The transducer may wirelessly transmit a signal representative of the fluid level to a receiving unit. The receiving unit may be able to instantaneously determine the overall fluid flow rate from the tanks based on the fluid levels when compared to previous fluid levels. The transducers may take fluid level measurements at regular intervals or may make measurements only when directed by the receiving unit.
