Abstract: The invention is an apparatus unit that adjusts the dispersion from a compartment to an aqueous solution in response to an independent variable such as an environmental factor, in order to optimize seeding, marking, warning or treatment. The compartment enables any selection of solids, liquids or gasses to be contained and mixed when ready for dispersion. A preferred embodiment is a solar powered pump, self-contained within a buoy over a shallow tidal pool, for the purpose of distributing seeds for marine vegetation under ideal conditions for propagation. The unit provides for sensing and measurement of the environment, then adapting the dispersion for optimum effect.

Abstract: An apparatus unit that adjusts fluid dispersion in response to an independent variable such as an environmental factor, to optimize the drizzle, mist or fog effect by suspending fluid droplets of a specific size in a gas. A preferred embodiment is a solar powered pump, self-contained within a buoy over a coral reef, for the purpose of providing enough mist during the sunniest time of the day to reduce coral bleaching. The unit provides for sensing and measurement of the environment, then adapting the dispersion for optimum effect. The unit can provide proportional response, for example to deliver 100% misting during the most extreme periods of sunshine and 50% mist during a typically sunny time and no mist during a cloudy day. Several like or compatible units may be organized as a system for a more efficient effect or blanket effect over a wider domain and for a longer duration.

Abstract: A nozzle with aperture adjusted automatically in response to an independent variable. Nozzle is defined as a protruding part, conduit, valve, vent, vane, funnel, flap, or diaphragm, connected to a tube, pump, canister or source of fluid, which is any liquid, gas or flowing mixture, for the purpose of controlling the rate of flow, direction, pattern, composition or other features of the flow or mixture. The nozzle of this invention comprises an adjustable aperture and the apparatus of this invention is comprised of the nozzle and the circuitry or processor to receive a signal from at least one sensor and automatically adjust the aperture in response to the signal. The invention can be used with any variety of fluids that are liquid, gas, flowing semi-solid or combination. A preferred embodiment employs the signal from a water vapor pressure sensor to adjust the aperture of the nozzle to disperse a droplet size that creates drizzle.
