摘要: A glass having excellent resistance against surface damages is provided. The glass includes a content of alkaline earth oxides of at least 0.3% by weight and of P2O5 of 0.1 to 4% by weight; the glass has at least one surface that has precipitations with a mean size of 1 to 20 μm. A method is further provided and includes melting a glass batch, yielding a glass melt, and casting the glass melt onto a float bath. The glass melt is maintained on the float bath at a temperature of above 1000° C. for at least 5 minutes, and yields glass. The glass has a content of alkaline earth oxides of at least 0.3% by weight and of P2O5 of 0.1 to 4% by weight, and the glass has at least one surface that has precipitations with a mean size of 1 to 20 μm.

摘要: A process for producing tubes or rods is provided. The process includes providing a settable liquid and producing a strand by drawing the liquid from a nozzle in a drawing direction. The result of this is that the settable liquid emerges through an annular gap formed by the nozzle with the desired production throughput at the temperature which is above the devitrification temperature. The settable liquid cools as it flows down an outer and/or an inner surface of a displacement body so that, by the end of the displacement body, the settable liquid has a sufficiently high viscosity to be drawn in stable form at the desired production throughout without flowing more quickly than the drawing rate as a result of its own weight.

摘要: An apparatus for press-forming a molten gob made of meltable material, especially of glass or glass ceramics, into a body of specific shape with compression moulds which form with each other a form cavity for receiving the gob. The compression moulds consist at least in the zone of the forming surfaces of an open-pore material and the compression moulds are connected to a pressure gas source in order to produce a gas stream which emerges from the forming surfaces. The open-pore material of the forming surfaces the pores close to the forming surfaces are smaller than the pores remote from the forming surfaces.

摘要: A method for making flat glass of good quality by rolling is described, in which a gas cushion is formed between the upper shaping roller and the glass sheet and contact between the lower shaping roller and the glass sheet is limited to a width of from 5 to 30 mm. The resulting flat glass has an upper surface quality that is nearly that of a fire-polished glass surface, while the lower surface has an improved quality that is better than that obtained by the prior art method. Furthermore it is advantageous that the method does not require an increase in the length of the cooling path following the rollers.

摘要: The invention includes a method and an arrangement for influencing the flow of glass melts in a controlled way during the transfer from the melting furnace to a processing process. The simultaneous generation of electric and magnetic fields generates a force in the glass melt which boosts or inhibits the melt flow and acts substantially in the same direction as or in the opposite direction to the main direction of flow. It is in this way possible to control the melt flow without affecting the temperature of the melt. Consequently, the invention is suitable in particular for the accurately controllable feeding of a homogeneous glass melt to a glass production process.
