One example internal combustion engine having at least one cylinder head and at least two cylinders, in which each cylinder has at least one inlet opening for the supply of combustion air into the cylinder, comprises an intake line leading to each inlet opening, an overall intake line where the intake lines of at least two cylinders merge, such that a distributor junction point is formed, and a heating device arranged in the overall intake line which has at least one strip-like heating element, a first narrow side of a cross section of which faces toward intake combustion air flow, wherein the heating device is arranged adjacent to the distributor junction point at which the intake lines merge to form the overall intake line, a spacing between the heating device and the distributor junction point being smaller than the diameter of a cylinder.
Abstract:
A method for operating an engine having a cylinder, an intake line for supplying charge air to the cylinder, and a device for controlling charge-air flows conducted via a charge-air cooler and via a bypass line around the charge-air cooler, comprises controlling the charge-air flows using the device, the device including a two-stage switchable shut-off element and a continuously adjustable shut-off element, wherein the two-stage switchable shut-off element, which is arranged parallel to the bypass line in the, is switched between only an open position and a closed position, and the bypass line is opened up or shut off to a greater or lesser extent by the shut-off element which is continuously adjustable between an open position and a closed position. In this way, shuddering of the engine during shut down is prevented.

A supercharged internal combustion engine is provided. The engine comprises a cylinder, an intake line in an intake system, for supplying charge air to the cylinder, an exhaust line for discharging exhaust gases, an exhaust-gas turbocharger including a turbine arranged in the exhaust line and a compressor arranged in the intake line, an exhaust-gas recirculation arrangement including a recirculation line which branches off from the exhaust line downstream of the turbine and opens into the intake line upstream of the compressor, and a sensor for detecting the concentration Ci,intake of a component i of the charge air in the intake system provided downstream of the opening of the recirculation line into the intake line. In this way, the exhaust-gas recirculation may be regulated based on feedback from the sensor to control emissions.
Abstract:
An arrangement for a fluidic and mechanical connection of two components may include a first component, a second component, and a coupling. The coupling may include a first coupling part arranged on the first component and a second coupling part. A damping part may moveably connect the second coupling part to the second component. An axial overlap region may be formed between the damping part and the second coupling part, which axially on the side facing the first component is bounded by a connecting region for realizing a mechanical connection between the second coupling part and the damping part. The second coupling part may coaxially plug into the first coupling part for fluidic and mechanical connection. At least one sealing element may be radially arranged between the first coupling part and the second coupling part.
