    摘要: A text-based information transmission is made complying with a greater number of transport-layer systems by performing the fragmentation and de-fragmentation of the information object at the application-layer side rather than at transport-layer domain. By this manner, the text-based information service is not restricted to transport-layer systems accommodating the maximum size of the information objects. Rather, it is possible to adjust the fragmentation size of the fragments into which the information objects are fragmented to the maximum transport packet content section size offered by the transport layer within the application layer. The fragment size may even vary in a time-varying manner responsive to instructions from the transport layer posed onto the transport layer in consequence of time-varying transmission channel characteristics, for example.

    摘要: A method for providing an information unit to a user is described, wherein the information unit describes an object having a predetermined spatial relationship to the user. The method includes detecting a kind of movement or a position of the user. Depending on the detected kind of movement or the position of the user, a geographic selection criterion is adjusted, wherein, depending on the predetermined spatial relationship of object to user, the geographic selection criterion specifies whether the information unit is provided or not. If a location of the user is located such with respect to a geographic position of the user that the geographic selection criterion is met, the information unit for the object is reproduced. An advantage is that the concept may be employed in applications in which the user gets into different environments and situations which, in turn, require different geographic selection criteria.

    摘要: Provision is made for an information reproduction scheme which is intelligent and adjusts to the desires and needs of the user in a manner which is almost unnoticeable to the user and is associated with little or no additional effort on the part of the user, in that the selection, from pieces of information or a plurality of pieces of information, of the information to be reproduced is performed randomly on the basis of an adaptive probability distribution, and the adaptive probability distribution is adapted based on a captured behavior of the user upon the reproduction of the information selected. Consequently, the user's behavior is used as a controlled variable for adapting the adaptive probability distribution, the latter one defining, among the reproducible information and/or those information objects wherein the reproducible information is provided, the likelihood that a specific piece of information provided in an information object will or will not be selected in the next random selection for the next piece of information to be reproduced.
