    摘要: A dispensing closure valve for a container comprising a stem for attachment to the container, and stem having an annular wall defining an opening and a closure having an annular wall, a radial wall engaging the free end of said stem, a transverse wall being curved and defining a convex surface facing inwardly of the container. The closure includes a downwardly and inwardly inclined integral annular portion defining a sealing surface at the juncture of the axial wall and transverse wall. The stem has a downwardly and outwardly inclined surface engaged by the downwardly and inwardly inclined sealing surface of said closure. An actuator comprising a tab extending axially from the inner surface of the transverse wall for manipulation of the closure to flex the axial wall and the transverse wall and thereby permit the contents to flow between the wall of the stem and the wall of the closure.

    摘要: A method for forming multi-directionally oriented plastic articles by shearing a thermoplastic material in a non-linear shear pattern while the material is at a temperature conducive to orientation and further processing the material by known plastic forming techniques to form an article in which the material remains oriented. More specifically, thermoplastic material is plasticized and accumulated in an amount at least sufficient to form the article, and the material is expressed under pressure from the accumulated body to and through an orifice. The material is non-linearly sheared prior to its issuance from the orifice to induce orientation stresses into the material, and, during shearing, the material is at a temperature which is conducive to orientation. The orientation stresses are frozen into the material when the material is formed to a desired configuration exteriorly of the orifice by known plastic forming techniques, such as blow molding, injection molding, compression molding, thermoforming and the like. During such forming, additional orientation stresses may be induced in the material and superimposed upon those stresses previously introduced thereinto.

    摘要: A carbonated beverage package comprising a container having an opening with a peripheral lip defining a free edge, and a downwardly and outwardly inclined sealing surface spaced from the free edge of the peripheral lip. A closure of plastic material, such that it will flex in thin cross section, is provided with an annular wall, a radial wall engaging the free edge of the peripheral lip of the container, and a transverse wall defining a convex surface facing inwardly of the container. The closure has a downwardly and outwardly inclined integral annular sealing surface at the juncture of the axial wall and transverse wall which engages the sealing surface of said container and places the axial wall under tension. The closure has a pressure relief rib at the juncture of the radial wall and axial wall such that axial force in the area overlying the rib will move a portion of the annular sealing surface of said closure away from the sealing surface of said container so that the pressure in the container can be relieved through a pressure relief opening through to the atmosphere and the closure can therafter be readily removed from the container.

A two-stage blowing operation is provided wherein a pre-form blow mold effects a uniform and controllable transfer of heat from a freely extruded tube. The pre-form is conditioned, both thermally and dimensionally, within the pre-form for most effective orientation during a subsequent final blowing operation.Manipulatively, the disclosed method provides a completely overlapped pre-blowing and final blowing operation, and more than one set of pre-blow and final blow molds may be utilized at a single extruder orifice, if desired. Further, the direction and extent of movement of the molds adapts the method to presently existing blow molding machines, while increasing the machine output.Successively utilized blow tubes form and reform the open or blowing end of the tube to a final configuration.
