The fibers are disposed between the at least two opposed wall regions, and comprise a single fiber threaded through and between apertures defined in the at least two opposed wall regions so as to lace together the at least two opposed wall regions; and the apertures are of rounded funnel shape with a narrow channel at a proximal end thereof leading into said pressure vessel and with an enlarged portion at an opposite, distal end thereof, said apertures being spaced from one another so as to form a convex, rounded cross-section over which said single fiber is placed when said single fiber is threaded from one aperture to an adjacent aperture.

    摘要: A steel hot water tank having a corrosion inhibiting coating on the interior surfaces of the tank is provided with end portions each having concave interior surfaces. A connecting device is used to permit connection of a precoated tank end to a precoated tank interior whereby the heat of welding the tank end to the tank side wall does not degrade the corrosion inhibiting coating of the tank interior. This construction provides increased volume for the tank compared to existing hot water tank constructions, and enables the use of material thicknesses in the tank ends which may be equal to or less than the material thicknesses of the tank side wall. A process is provided which permits the welding of the tank end to the tank side wall without degrading the corrosion inhibiting coatings previously applied to the parts being assembled.

    摘要: A tank closure assembly adapted to releasably couple tank sections formed by transversely splitting an integral bag-molded fiber-reinforced tank. According to one aspect of the invention, the assembly includes external circumferential flanges secured to the tank sections adjacent their severed faces and in opposed relation to each other. An O-ring seal, disposed externally of the tank sections and between the flanges, is compressed into sealing engagement with surrounding surfaces, by tightening of a circumferential band encircling the flanges, to seal the tank sections at their plane of separation. According to another aspect of the invention, the assembly includes a unitary clamping band having hooked ends which engage grooves adjacent the severed faces of the tank sections and the clamping band retains a pair of O-rings which seal the tank at their plane of separation. A method of machining a tank to simultaneously form the split sections and suitable flanges receiving grooves thereon is disclosed, as well as a method of pressure-testing the machined tank sections prior to assembly of the flanges and O-ring seal.

    摘要: Assembly of a fiber reinforced resin tank includes joining a plurality of prefabricated arcuate wall panel sections by elongated joiner panels extending along the vertical seams between adjacent wall sections to form the perimeter of a cylindrical tank. The wall sections have a plurality of openings adjacent the vertical sides and the joiner panels have columns of transversely spaced pairs of protrusions for coupling with the openings in adjacent panel sections. The joiner panel is able to pass circumferential hoop stress from one panel section to an adjacent panel section by providing effective clamping between the two panels through the use of continuous filament and/or geometrically oriented glass or other fibers placed into a hooked shape so the fibers extend between each pair of spaced protrusions and curve into the protrusions so the fibers extend along the protrusions. Additionally, the wall sections include criss-crossing diagonal fibers so there are crossing fibers between the openings of the wall section and the vertical edge of the wall section thereby preventing a force applied by the protrusion in the opening from tearing the wall section.

    摘要: A curved wall panel made of fiberglass-polyester resin composite and having a main wall section, in which steel straps (or other high modulars or high stiffner material straps) are circumferentially embedded, and an inwardly recurved section at each side thereof which terminates in a radially disposed and outwardly extending flange. The side-by-side flanges of adjacent panels are conjoined to form a joint which is outwardly spaced from the pair of flanges. The plastic portions of the bolted butt joint formed thereby are in compression only from the bolts and from the hydrostatic pressure while the steel bolts and straps are in tension only. A plurality of conjoined ring panels form a ring module. Outwardly disposed ring panels at the top and bottom of each wall panel enable a ring module to be placed on the rim section of a base formed of pie-shaped elements and to be stacked to form a field-erected tank having horizontally disposed and movement-permitting ring joints above and beneath each ring module. Because the thin-walled, creep-susceptible composite in the compressed butt joints and in the ring joints are not under tensile stress, there is substantially no stress concentration nor loci for accelerated corrosion in the tank, so that any size tank can be precisely designed and fabricated.
