    Abstract: A fluid pressure machine such as a motor or pump has an orbiting cylinder block (9) housing a number of radial pistons (11) sliding within respective cylinders (10). Each piston has a cylindrical coaxial bore in which a fluid displacing member (13) fixed to the cylinder block is located so as to define within the cylinder an annular outer chamber (14) and an inner chamber (15). A selectively operable spool valve (36) is arranged for supplying hydraulic fluid under pressure to the inner and/or the outer chamber and thereby control the operating speed of the machine.

    Abstract: A method for detecting whether a natural diamond has been processed at high pressure and high temperature (HPHT) conditions comprises steps of disposing the diamond in a cyrostat that is provided at temperatures equal to or less than liquid nitrogen; illuminating the diamond with a laser beam; recording an optical spectrum of the diamond with a photoluminescence spectrometer; and examining the optical spectrum of the diamond to detect an absence of selected photoluminescent spectral lines. The invention also sets forth a method for predicting whether a natural diamond has been treated under HPHT conditions

    Abstract: A method for evaluating the API gravity of a sample of underground formation includes steps of: Solvating a known volume of an underground formation sample in a known volume of a solvent which will solvate hydrocarbons; Quantitatively measuring with a changeable filter portable fluorometer the emission fluorescence of the solvated sample at a fixed excitation wavelength with measurements of emission intensities at two points; characterizing the oil by the ratio of two emission intensities obtained at a fixed excitation wavelength; determining the yield; applying regression analysis to a data base of oils to obtain an equation which results in an algorithm value; and interpreting the value of the algorithm to give a value for API gravity and estimate in-situ oil concentration.

    Abstract: A designer tool that facilitates design of an object model. The tool takes as input a computer-readable representation of a graph of objects (e.g., classes), and creates automatically one or more diagrams that depict these classes as editable trees showing their relationships and properties. These graphs naturally have a tree-like structure which is exploited by the approach. The design tool system includes a layout component that receives as input one or more of the graphs, and converts the one or more graphs into the editable treelike structure. The system further comprises a presentation component that presents the editable treelike structure as a treelike structure diagram, and facilitates user interaction therewith. The tool can be used for opening, editing and saving existing object model files or to create new ones.
