The miniature PWB is mounted on the circuit board using techniques well known in the art. This combination of technologies provides an adaptable, durable interconnect methodology, which allows for circuit and part changes without changing the layout of the base printed wiring board.

摘要： This invention provides fault tolerant capability for a Versa Module Eurocards backplane system design for high reliability applications. An approach of connecting two independent backplanes together electrically, but providing isolation capabilities in the event of a failure was developed. The electrical connection or integrated bridge design provides a virtual connection between the two VME backplanes that is transparent to the end user. The integrated virtual VMEbus design provides a low latency, high bandwidth interconnect between modules whether located on the same local bus or the electrically isolateable bus. This dual-VME fault tolerant backplane design eliminates complete system failures due to single event failures.

摘要： A technique for generally determining the approximate volume of the white cell and platelet layers in a centrifugally separated mixture of anticoagulated blood. A centrifuge tube is used to hold the blood sample and an appropriately shaped body is disposed in the tube in the zone occupied by the white cell and platelet layers whose volume is to be measured. The body reduces the available volume within the tube which may be occupied by the white cell and platelet layers and thus expands the axial extent thereof to make visual measurement of the white cell and platelet layers more accurate. The body has an inwardly and upwardly tapered upper end portion which prevents platelet cells from aggregating on the top of the body.

摘要： An apparatus automatically places postcard backings on rolls of developed photo stock. The backings are formed from a roll of bulk label stock such as that sold under the trade name AVERY. The label stock comes with an adhesive layer on its back side, which adhesive is covered by a removable backing sheet. Preferably, indicia have previously been printed on the front side of the label at regular intervals thereon, the size of the intervals corresponding to the size to which the photo postcards will be cut. The two rolls are fed to traction rollers and past a manual calibration register. The backing then is peeled off of the label stock by an automatic peeling-blade which is inserted between the adhesive and the backing. After that, the two lines of feed are led to a laminating press, where they are pressed together and permanently mated by mutual contact with the adhesive layer. The next stage is a cutter which cuts the photo/label combination at the intersections of individual photos. The result is postcards, i.e. stiffened sheets each having a graphic side and a side pre-divided by printed indicia into text, address and stamp areas.

摘要： Apparatus for measuring the volume of the buffy coat and constituent cell sub-layers in blood. The apparatus includes a capillary tube with an insert disposed in the tube bore. The insert is formed of a material having a specific gravity which will enable it to float on the red cell layer of a centrifuged blood sample. The insert is an elongated body having a circular side wall, such as a cylinder, with a tapered upper end. The insert forms an annular free space with the tube bore into which the white cell layer settles. A small, axial channel is formed in or on the body to allow ready passage of the fluid constituent of the blood sample during centrifugation so as to minimize disruption of the cell layer interfaces which may otherwise occur during centrifugation of the blood sample.
