    Abstract: Aspects of the disclose provide methods and an apparatus for video and/or image coding. The apparatus includes processing circuitry that receive a bitstream including a frame. Coding information for a block in the frame indicates that the block is coded with a joint motion vector difference (JMVD) coding mode and a compound weighted prediction mode. The coding information includes scaling factor information of the JMVD coding mode. If the scaling factor information indicates that each of scaling factors of components of at least one MVD associated with at least one respective reference frame of the block is a pre-defined scaling factor, a weighting factor of the compound weighted prediction mode is determined based on a list of weighting factors. Otherwise, the weighting factor of the compound weighted prediction mode is determined based on a subset of the list of weighting factors.

    Abstract: An acoustic resonator is fabricated with a substrate having a substrate top surface and a piezoelectric plate having plate front and plate back surfaces. An acoustic Bragg reflector is sandwiched between the substrate top surface and the plate back surface. The reflector has a cavity with a top surface perimeter, and the acoustic Bragg reflector is configured to reflect shear acoustic waves at a resonance frequency of the acoustic resonator. The back surface is mounted on the cavity top surface perimeter except for a portion of the plate forming a diaphragm that spans the cavity. An interdigital transducer (IDT) is formed on the plate front surface such that interleaved fingers of the IDT are disposed on the diaphragm. Two or more layers of the acoustic Bragg reflector form pedestals that support the back surface of the plate opposite some or all interleaved fingers of the IDT.

    Abstract: Techniques for rapid powder removal in a 3-D printer are disclosed. In various embodiments, the 3-D printer has a build plate for supporting a build piece. The build plate includes first structures for supporting unfused powder on a top of the build plate when the first structures are in a closed configuration. The first structures can transition to an open configuration to expose paths for allowing the unfused powder to pass through the build plate, and a second structure for preventing the build piece from passing through the build plate when the first structures are in the open configuration. In various embodiments, the unfused powder can thereafter be replaced with cool powder to assist in forming a predictable microstructure that makes up the build piece.

    Abstract: A feature value is determined based on at least one of (i) neighboring reconstructed chroma samples of a current chroma block and (ii) neighboring reconstructed luma samples of a luma block that is collocated with the current chroma block. Chroma samples of the current chroma block and luma samples of the luma block that is collocated with the current chroma block are grouped into a plurality of groups based on a threshold of the feature value. Each of the plurality of groups includes a respective chroma sample and a respective luma sample. A respective cross-component prediction mode is determined for each of the plurality of groups by comparing the respective chroma sample and the respective luma sample of each respective group to the determined feature value. The current chroma block is reconstructed based on the determined cross-component prediction modes of the plurality of groups.
