    Abstract: A method of monitoring an electrical system having a plurality of electrical loads may include operating the plurality of electrical loads, obtaining a combined power profile for the plurality of electrical loads, decomposing the combined power profile into individual electrical load profiles from the combined power profile, and controlling operation of one or more electrical loads of the plurality of electrical devices according to the individual electrical load profile of the one or more electrical loads. Decomposing the combined power profile may include applying multi-dimensional event decomposition to the combined power profile to identify and disaggregate the combined power profile into the individual electrical load profiles. Decomposing the combined power profile may include detecting power consumption events of the plurality of electrical loads. Decomposing the combined power profile may include classifying the detected power consumption events.

    Abstract: A method to provide power to a control supporting circuit includes connecting an optical power converter to the control support circuit, the optical power converter connected to a laser source via a fiber optic cable, controlling, by a controller, a laser source driver to drive a laser source providing a laser and the control supporting circuit; and supplying power to the control supporting circuit by irradiating the optical power converter with the laser via the fiber optic cable. A stray capacitance between the controller and the high voltage supporting circuit is reduced to zero or nearly zero. A method of shutting down a laser source driver providing laser energy to an optical power converter is also provided.

    Abstract: A harmonic suppression method and apparatus for a three-phase three-wire cascaded power conversion apparatus is disclosed. The method can include: calculating a first current output from a full-bridge rectifier module to a floating direct current side, the first current being composed of a first current direct current component and a first current double frequency component; and generating a first injection voltage with a triple frequency, so as to inject the first injection voltage into the floating direct current side and transfer at least a portion of the first current double frequency component to a low-voltage direct current side, where total current on the floating direct current side is composed of the first current and a second current after the first injection voltage is injected, the second current is composed of a second current double frequency component and a second current quadruple frequency component, and the amplitude and the phase angle of the first injection voltage are configured so that the first and second current double frequency components are at least partially canceled. The method reduces the demand for capacitance on the floating direct current side of the power conversion apparatus, resulting in a significant increase in power density and high power conversion efficiency.

    Abstract: A rocker arm assembly capable of switchably deactivating a roller assembly includes a valve end and a cam end having first and second roller assemblies, and a latching mechanism. The latching mechanism includes rocker body pins and roller body pins. The rocker body pins include first and second end pins and a connection pin, each pin provided within a rocker arm body along a latching axis. The roller body pins include first and second locking pins, each roller body pin provided within a respective roller assembly. In a first latching mode, the first roller assembly is deactivated and the second roller assembly is activated. In a second latching mode, the second roller assembly is deactivated and the first roller assembly is activated.

    Abstract: A current sensing system includes a pre-calibrated busbar, a voltage sensor, a temperature sensor and a controller. The pre-calibrated busbar has a known resistance, a known variation in resistance with respect to temperature and known dimensions. The voltage sensor detects a difference in voltage between a first location and a second location on the pre-calibrated busbar. The temperature sensor detects an ambient temperature of the pre-calibrated busbar. The controller determines a resistance of the busbar between the first location and the second location based on the known resistance, known variation in resistance, known dimensions and the ambient temperature. The controller additionally determines a current flowing through the pre-calibrated busbar based on the difference in voltage and the determined resistance. The current sensing system has numerous applications including using the determined current to control an operating condition of a solid state circuit breaker or a solid state power controller.
