A fuel system is described for homogenizing a liquid fuel component and a fresh water component by an adjustable emulsifying orifice. The downstream pressure of the homogenized fuel and water components at the suction side of a feed pump is monitored and controlled by a compensating valve which continuously and automatically adjusts the orifice size within the adjustable emulsifying orifice. The compensating valve is arranged in fluid communication with the suction side of the pump to be operative in response to changes in the pressure. The compensating valve is of the diaphragm type having an underlying piston provided with piston rings which prevent fluid communication between the suction side of the pump and its internal connecting assembly in the event of rupture of the diaphragm.

This invention relates to a mixing vessel employed in the mixing and agitation of the slurry in the mineral and chemical processing. The mixing vessel of the present invention comprises a cylindrical vessel and one or more propellers rotatably disposed within said cylindrical vessel adjacent to the cylindrical wall wherein the axis of the rotation of said one or more propellers is substantially perpendicular to the central axis of said cylindrical vessel; whereby, the rotation of said one or more propellers generates the thrust substantially tangential to the cylindrical wall of said cylindrical vessel and, thus, creates a rotating motion of the slurry contained in said cylindrical vessel about the central axis of said cylindrical vessel for the mixing and agitation of the slurry. Said rotational mixing vessel provides an advantage in saving the energy consumption required by the mixing vessel as well as the power consumption by the aerating vessel.

An apparatus for continuously preparing starch milk is disclosed. The apparatus comprises a dosing means for supplying starch to a homogenizing tank. The homogenizing tank has an upper in-flow hopper provided with a flushing means, an agitating means, and a lower section. The dosing means has an outlet that opens into the upper in-flow hopper. A fall pipe is disposed between the outlet of the upper in-flow hopper and the lower section. The apparatus requires less energy than prior art apparatus and is not prone to operational disruptions as a result of variations in the starch milk concentration.
