Abstract: Various techniques and approaches described herein may be applied to control congestion at a session management (SM) function (SMF) based on at least one back-off timer maintained at a user equipment (UE). In an aspect of the disclosure, a method, a computer-readable medium, and an apparatus are provided. The apparatus may be a UE. The UE may be configured to establish a protocol data unit (PDU) session with a SMF. The UE may be configured to determine whether a back-off timer associated with the PDU session is terminated. The UE may refrain from sending, to the SMF, data over a control plane associated with the PDU session when the back-off timer is unterminated. The UE may send, to the SMF, the data over the control plane associated with the PDU session when the back-off timer is terminated.

Abstract: Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may receive information related to a dedicated preconfigured uplink resource (DPUR) in a message releasing the UE to an idle mode or an inactive mode. For example, in some aspects, the information related to the DPUR may identify one or more uplink resources that are allocated to the UE to enable the UE to initiate an uplink data transmission in the idle mode or the inactive mode. The UE may transmit, based at least in part on the information related to the DPUR, uplink data while in the idle mode or the inactive mode. Numerous other aspects are provided.

The apparatus may send a first subscription request message to a provisioning entity. In certain aspects, the first subscription request message may request one or more subscriptions. In certain other aspects, each subscription may include at least one or more credentials. The apparatus may receive the one or more subscriptions from the provisioning entity when the one or more subscriptions are available. The apparatus may send a second subscription request message after a polling interval to the provisioning entity when the one or more subscriptions are not received. In certain aspects, the second subscription request message may be sent when the one or more subscriptions are not received in response to the first subscription request.

Abstract: A core network receives data from at least one of an AF, a DN, or a UE. A UPF having small data capability processes the data for transport with a low overhead and without initiating a bearer set up protocol. The data may be transported between the UE and the UPF as an RRC payload over a NAS protocol. The data may be received from an AF or DN external to the core network and may be processed to transport the data to the UE based as an RRC payload. The data may be received as uplink data from a UE, e.g., in an RRC payload. The UPF may process the RRC payload to obtain the data and may transport the data to the AF or DN. The UPF may perform IP header compression, data encryption, and/or buffering of data for a UE in an idle mode.

Abstract: A core network receives data from at least one of an Application Function (AF), a Data Network (DN), or a User Equipment (UE). A Session Management Function (SMF) processes the data for transport with a low overhead as a session management (SM) payload over a Non Access Stratum (NAS) protocol. The data may be received from an AF or DN external to the core network and may be processed to transport the data to the UE based as a SM payload. The data may be received as uplink data from a UE, e.g., in an SM payload. The SMF may processed the SM payload to obtain the data and may transport the data to the AF or DN. The SMF may perform IP header compression, data encryption based on an SMF encryption key, and/or buffering of data for a UE in an idle mode.
