Abstract: An access terminal adapts (e.g., self-optimizes) at least one handover parameter used by the access terminal for determining whether and/or how to handover from one access point to another access point. In addition, the access terminal uses different handover parameters for handover between different pairs of access points. For each of the access point pairs, the access terminal maintains a record of any handover issues that occur during handover of the access terminal between the access points. In the event a handover issue arises for a given pair of access points, the access terminal may adapt the handover parameter(s) associated with that access point pair in an attempt to mitigate the handover issue. In the event handover parameter adaptation occurs or occurs too frequently, the access terminal may store the adapted handover parameters for use during a subsequent handover operation and/or handover parameter adaptation operation.

Abstract: A method for wireless communication may include receiving a communication and determining an acknowledgement signature for an acknowledgment in response to the communication. The acknowledgment signature may allow for authentication with the transmitting wireless device. The acknowledgment signature may be based on a key shared with the wireless device. An acknowledgement frame (e.g., acknowledging reception of the communication) may then be sent to the transmitting wireless device. The content of the acknowledgement may be based on the acknowledgement signature. For example, the signature may be included in a frame control, duration, or address field. Determining the acknowledgement signature may include determining a unique signature based on information from the received communication (e.g., a cyclic redundancy check (CRC)), the shared key, and/or a hash function. In some cases, the acknowledgement frame may include an encryption header, and a message integrity check may be included as the acknowledgement signature.

Abstract: A user terminal for multiple-user wireless communication is provided, comprising a transmit buffer configured to store uplink data for transmission. The user terminal comprises a processor configured to generate a request to transmit frame in response to uplink data being present in the transmit buffer, and initiate a transmit timer for determining when to transmit the request to transmit frame. The user terminal comprises a transmitter configured to transmit the request to transmit frame when the transmit timer expires or when the uplink data present in the transmit buffer exceeds a threshold amount. The user terminal comprises a receiver configured to receive a clear to transmit frame from an access point based on the transmitted request to transmit frame. The transmitter is further configured to transmit the uplink data present in the transmit buffer, concurrently with at least one other user terminal transmitting uplink data, to the access point at a specified time based on receiving the clear to transmit frame addressed to the user terminal.

Abstract: Systems and methods for communication in a wireless network are disclosed. In one aspect, a method includes generating a medium access control (MAC) address for a first group of wireless devices, storing the MAC address for the first group of wireless devices in an address field of a first message, and transmitting, by a first wireless device of the first group of wireless devices, the first message to a second wireless device of the first group of wireless devices. In some aspects, the wireless network comprises a neighbor aware network (NAN). In some aspects, a wireless device may be able to determine a method of encryption or decryption for the first message based at least in part on the MAC address for the first group of wireless devices.
