When vehicle movement is required a main pressure regulator trims the torque transmitting mechanism into engagement. A method of reducing engine load at vehicle stop by employing the apparatus of the present invention is also provided.

The electro-hydraulic control system includes a multiplexed pressure switch system. The multiplexed pressure switch system of the present invention allows position detection of five torque transmitting mechanism control valves through the use of only four pressure switches.

    摘要: The present invention provides a method and apparatus for a self-cleaning valve assembly. The valve is adapted to cycle and thereby clean the valve assembly in response to one or more predefined parameters which are programmed into a programmable controller. The valve is additionally configured to cycle according to one or more of several different methods which have been shown to efficiently clean the valve assembly. In this manner, the valve assembly is automatically cleaned improving the efficiency thereof and eliminating stuck valve warranty returns.

    摘要: A hydraulic retarder is disposed to receive fluid as directed by a flow valve to selectively retard vehicle motion. The flow valve responds to an operator controlled modulator valve to direct fluid from a cooler which is supplied from a torque converter to the hydraulic retarder upon a request by the operator. A modulator valve is also effective to control the pressure of the fluid exiting the cooler and entering the retarder.

    摘要: An auxiliary hydraulic pressurization system for use with a vehicle including a transmission having a hydraulic reservoir, a hydraulic circuit, and a main pump is disclosed herein. The auxiliary hydraulic pressurization system includes an auxiliary pump and a controller. The auxiliary pump has a low side adapted to be coupled to the hydraulic reservoir and a high side adapted to be coupled to the hydraulic circuit. The controller is electrically connectable to the auxiliary pump and is configured to turn on the auxiliary pump in response to receipt of a signal indicating that the vehicle is in a stop condition to maintain hydraulic pressurization of the hydraulic circuit of the transmission when the vehicle is in the stop condition.

    摘要: A fast valve actuation system for an automatic vehicle transmission includes a pair of spring-biased shift valves. Solenoids control the application of pressurized hydraulic fluid to the head of each of the shift valves. Each shift valve has at least one port that is coupled to a fluid chamber of a torque transferring mechanism of an automatic transmission. The position of each of the shift valves determines whether its ports are connected with fluid pressure. Fluid passages connect the head of each shift valve to the spring pocket of the other shift valve.
