Abstract:
A wafer structure and epitaxial growth method for growing the same. The method may include forming a mask layer having nano-sized areas on a wafer, forming a porous layer having nano-sized pores on a surface of the wafer by etching the mask layer and a surface of the wafer, and forming an epitaxial material layer on the porous layer using an epitaxial growth process.
Abstract:
A drug testing system using any number of bio-artificial organs, for example liver-slices based in a culture apparatus. The apparatus has a chamber with plasma and gas valves, animal organ slices being positioned securely in the chamber so as to maximize the surface area of organ slices exposed to the culture medium. Plasma is supplied to the chamber so that it rises to contact the organ slices, and is alternately removed from contacting the organ slices. Gas is supplied to the top of the chamber. The system also includes a reservoir for containing media entering and exiting the chamber. Methods are provided for assessing the toxicity of a drug or drug candidate.
Abstract:
A binary comparator for comparing two binary digits A and B includes multiple Equality Check Pass Gates (ECPGs E0-E3) connected serially to one another, for comparing the respective bit pairs from the least significant bit to the most significant bit of the binary digits A and B, two resistance units (P1, P2), two inverters (INV31, INV32) and multiple switching transistors, and is capable of obtaining the result of comparing the two binary digits A and B (A>B, A=B or A
Abstract:
A thermal printing head of a printing apparatus is provided. The thermal printing head includes an alumina substrate on which a plurality of heat resistors and signal supplying aluminum pattern elements are formed, a print circuit board for supplying an electric signal and power to the heat resistors, which is located adjacent to the alumina substrate, a heat sink for discharging heat, wherein the heat sink is attached to the bottom of the print circuit board and the alumina substrate; and a driving IC mounted on the alumina substrate, each signal supplying aluminum pattern element thereof being formed of two portions having different widths which are alternately connected in a lengthwise direction along the signal supplying aluminum pattern. This arrangement minimizes or prevents contamination of the wire bonding pad due to bleeding of solder resist and non-conductive epoxy along the signal supplying aluminum pattern element during manufacturing processes.
Abstract:
Example embodiments are directed to a method of growing GaN single crystals on a silicon substrate, a method of manufacturing a GaN-based light emitting device using the silicon substrate, and a GaN-based light emitting device. The method of growing the GaN single crystals may include forming a buffer layer including a TiN group material or other like material on a silicon substrate, forming a nano-pattern including silicon oxide on the buffer layer, and growing GaN single crystals on the buffer layer and the nano-pattern.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method of preparing a superabsorbent polymer, including the steps of: preparing a hydrous gel phase polymer by thermal polymerizing or photo-polymerizing a monomer composition including a water-soluble ethylene-based unsaturated monomer and a polymerization initiator; drying the hydrous gel phase polymer; milling the dried polymer; adding a surface cross-linking agent to the milled polymer; and elevating the temperature of the polymer including the surface cross-linking agent at a speed of 3° C./min to 15° C./min, and carrying out a surface cross-linking reaction at 100° C. to 250° C.
Abstract:
A keypad assembly includes an optical shutter configured to shield or transmit light according to a voltage applied thereto; a light guide panel configured to guide an internal light generated inside of the keypad assembly and coupled to the interior of the light guide panel; and a symbol pattern layer including at least one symbol pattern illuminated by both the internal light irradiated from the light guide panel and an external light from outside of the keypad assembly that has passed through the optical shutter.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method of producing an elastomer. Specifically, the method of producing an elastomer according to the present invention comprises a step of polymerizing ethylene, propylene, and optionally, a diene monomer in the presence of a catalyst composition containing a transition metal compound. The method of producing an elastomer according to the present invention makes it possible to prepare a high molecular weight, ethylene-propylene or ethylene-propylene-diene, elastic copolymer at a high temperature.
Abstract:
Example embodiments include micro-heater arrays including first and second micro-heaters disposed perpendicular to or parallel with each other on a substrate and methods of fabricating pn junctions between first and second heating portions using the heat generated from the first and second heating portions, respectively, when applying a voltage to the micro-heater array. Accordingly, when forming pn junctions using micro-heaters, a high-quality pn junction may be fabricated on a glass substrate over a large area.
Abstract:
A color electronic paper keypad device is provided that includes an electronic paper sheet having a plurality of electrode patterns. One or more of the plurality of electrode patterns displays a color depending on whether an electric field is applied. The device also includes a color display disposed over the electronic paper sheet. The color display changes the displayed color depending on whether a second electric field is applied. An illumination light reflects from or transmits through the color display to change the displayed color of the one or more electrode patterns. The device further includes a front light unit for illuminating said color display.
