Abstract:
A geo-cooling system of specified cooling capacity for cooling a known heat load is disclosed. The system includes a cool water aquifer, a cool water production well and a heated water injection well. The cool water production well is open to the cool water aquifer and in hydrologic communication with a subterranean heat exchange area that provides requisite cooling capacity to a known heat load. The heated water injection well is in hydrologic communication with the subterranean heat exchange area and open to the cool water aquifer at a prescribed distance from the cool water production well. The prescribed distance between the cool water production well and the heated water injection well is at least based on the available size of a subterranean heat exchange area including a portion of the cool water aquifer that hydrologically communicates between the heated water injection well and the cool water production well.
Abstract:
A regenerative fuel cell is combined with a combustion engine such as a Pulse Detonation Engine (PDE) to create a closed-loop power generation system. Stored hydrogen and oxygen are used by the regenerative fuel cell, and by the combustion engine, in which the reaction of the hydrogen and oxygen produces water in the gas phase (steam). The steam is used to generate work from a turbine shaft, which is used to drive a propulsion system for the marine vessel. After the steam passes through the turbine, the steam is cooled back to liquid water by a condenser, and stored with the water produced by the regenerative fuel cell. The stored water can be converted back into hydrogen and oxygen by using electrical power external to the closed-loop system. After regeneration of the water into hydrogen and oxygen, the closed-loop power system would be ready for operation again.
Abstract:
Motor vehicle comprises a combustion engine with internal combustion of fuel and/or cold-flame product for driving the motor vehicle and thereby producing exhaust gas and an auxiliary power unit comprising an external burner and an expansion machine. A fuel tank with fuel provides energy to the burner and the combustion engine. The motor vehicle has a cold-flame-reactor with means for feeding the fuel from the fuel tank to the cold-flame reactor, and at least a portion of the fuel is pre-combusted to a cold-flame product in the cold-flame reactor.
Abstract:
A combined gas-turbine and steam-turbine plant includes waste-heat steam generator which is located downstream of the gas turbine. The heating surfaces of the waste-heat steam generator are connected in a water/steam loop of the steam turbine. The gas turbine is cooled and the heat obtained in that heat exchange is further utilized. An intermediate circuit is linked to a first heat exchanger which cools the coolant of the gas turbine and to a second heat exchanger which is connected in the water/steam loop.
Abstract:
A partial flue gas stream is used for the production of electrical energy and/or heating and operational heat by utilizing combustion heat from fossil fuels, prior to combustion dried in an indirectly heated fluidized bed dryer, with combustion flue gas used as a carrier medium for the fluidized bed dryer. The mixture of flue gases and steam, deriving from the drying process, is after an intermediate treatment, if necessary, discharged with the main flue gas stream.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a plant for utilization of low-potential waste heat of a gas-pipeline compressor station in a heat consumer which is outside the station such as e.g. district heating systems for homes, for industrial or agricultural purposes. The compressor stations of this type have a compressor driven by a gas motor or gas turbine. The improvement is in that a surface heat exchanger (7) cooled with liquid, preferably with water is provided for cooling the gas after leaving the compressor and being warmed in the course of compression. The heat exchanger is connected to the heat consumer through a liquid conduit having a circulation pump in it (FIG. 1).
Abstract:
An abstract of my disclosure envisions a continuously repeated series of treatments a gaseous and fluidized powder stream is subjected to after it is made and unceasingly renewed from fossil fuel, oxygen and steam in a gasifier at slagging temperatures; and then impelled to flow through connected steam making, processing and electricity generating units forming a closed circulatory system; producing a stream of carbon monoxide and hydrogen while generating electrical energy.
Abstract:
A method of optimizing the performance of a multi-unit power plant which produces both electrical and steam energy by determining the incremental efficiency of power boilers with various fuel inputs and thereafter determining the index of performance by taking into account cost factors and reallocating in the most optimum manner.
Abstract:
A method and means for the generation of power from a controlled air flow, wherein an enclosed air mass is cooled at high altitude below the temperature of the surrounding air. The air is isolated from the surrounding air by means of a large duct. The resulting cooler, denser air flows down the duct toward lower altitude, and the energy of the falling air mass is extracted by means of a turbine generator.
Abstract:
In a turbine power plant, fluid hydrocarbon fuel is first cracked with steam under pressure; the cracked compressed gas is then expanded in a gas turbine to perform work and thereafter burned in a boiler to generate steam to drive a steam turbine. The cracked, compressed gas may also be expanded to an intermediate pressure in a gas turbine to perform work, combusted under pressure, the combusted, compressed gas expanded in a second gas turbine to perform work and then fed to a boiler where the heat of the combusted gas is utilized to generate stem to drive a steam turbine. The cracked, compressed gas may also be fully expanded in a gas turbine to perform work and thereafter combusted and a portion of the hot combustion gas therefrom is fed to a boiler to generate steam to drive a steam turbine and the balance is recycled to an externally heated cracker and then to the boiler.
