Abstract: A pattern forming method comprising, a step (1) of coating a layer formed of a curable composition (A1) containing at least a certain polymerizable compound (a1) on a surface of a substrate, a step (2) of dispersedly dropping a droplet of a curable composition (A2) containing at least a polymerizable compound (a2) on the layer of the curable composition (A1) to form lamination, a step (3) of sandwiching between a mold and the substrate a layer in which the curable composition (A1) and the curable composition (A2) are partially mixed, a step (4) of curing a portion of the layer in which the two curable compositions are partially mixed all at once by applying light from the side of the mold, the portion being sandwiched between the mold and the substrate, and a step (5) of separating the mold from the layer formed of the cured curable compositions.

Abstract: The present invention provides energy-curable compositions comprising aminoacrylates produced by the Michael addition reaction of any blend of highly alkoxylated monomers with any blend of mono- and/or bireactive amines. Suitable highly alkoxylated monomers include, but are not limited to, poly(ethylene glycol) diacrylates, poly(propylene glycol) diacrylates, and ethoxylated trimethylolpropane triacrylates. The alkoxylated monomers have a degree of alkoxylation equal to or greater than 2.0 per functional group. The compositions of the present invention further comprise greater than 10% (w/w) of any blend of monomers having molecular weights of less than 1000 Daltons.

Abstract: Novel stress-reducing crosslinking oligomers that have application in dental restoratives, thin films, hardcoats, composites, adhesives, and other uses subject to stress reduction are described. The addition-fragmentation process of crosslinking results in a chain-transfer event that provides novel polymers that may be further functionalized. In addition, the addition-fragmentation oligomer comprises pendent functional groups that bond to a substrate by forming an ionic or covalent bond, or etch the substrate by chemically removing some material from the substrate.

A method for producing a colloidal structure includes: a dispersion liquid preparation step of preparing a colloidal dispersion liquid by dispersing a plurality of types of colloidal particles together with a monomer; a coating film generation step of coating the colloidal dispersion liquid on a substrate, and generating a coating film; and a polymerization step of polymerizing the monomer in the coating film.

Abstract: Quinacridone pigments that are surface-functionalized with glycidyl methacrylate, maleic anhydride, or 4-methacryloxyethyl trimellitic anhydride to create a functionalized pigment. The functional groups are then activated to bond hydrophobic polymers, thereby coating the pigment with the hydrophobic polymers. The quinacridone pigments can be used for a variety of applications. They are well-suited for use in electro-optic materials, such as electrophoretic media for use in electrophoretic displays.
