Abstract: A bearing component such as a bearing ring includes a metallic base body and at least one alloy steel coating on the base body, the coating being applied to the base body by deposition welding. The base body is preferably non-alloy steel or cast iron, and the alloy includes at least one carbide-forming transition metal such as niobium, tantalum, zirconium, titanium, hafnium, tungsten, molybdenum, vanadium, or manganese. The coating can form a raceway of the bearing component or a structural element such as a flange. Also a method of forming such a bearing component is provided.

The composition for the Fe-based alloy includes iron, chromium, and molybdenum, wherein per 100 parts by weight of the iron, the chromium is contained in an amount of 25.4 to 55.3 parts by weight, the molybdenum is contained in an amount of 35.6 to 84.2 parts by weight, and at least one of carbon and boron is further contained.

Abstract: This disclosure provides a graded composition including at least a first, second, and third material property zone each having a crystallographic configuration distinct from other zones. In some implementations, the graded composition has a first material in the first material property zone including a metal, the first material composed of metallic bonds between metal atoms present in the first material property zone; a second material that at least partially overlaps the first material in the first material property zone including carbon, the second material composed of covalent bonds between the carbon in the second material and the metal in the first material; and, a third material that at least partially overlaps the second material property zone including carbon, the third material composed of covalent bonds between the carbon of the third material. Each crystallographic configuration may include a cubic crystallographic lattice, a hexagonal lattice, a face or body-centered cubic lattice.

Abstract: A piercer plug having good base-material deformation resistance is provided. A method of manufacturing a piercer plug (10) includes the steps of; preparing a plug body (1) including a tip portion (11) and a cylindrical portion (12) having a hole (121) usable to attach a bar and located rearward of the tip portion (11); forming a build-up layer (2) on the surface of the tip portion (11); and heating the plug body (1) such that the temperature of the tip portion (11) with the build-up layer (2) formed thereon is not lower than the austenite transformation temperature and the temperature of the cylindrical portion (12) is lower than the austenite transformation temperature.

Abstract: Provided are a system and process for remanufacturing a waste cylinder assembly of an aircraft piston engine. The spraying apparatus includes a first power mechanism, a spray gun assembly and a second power mechanism. The first power mechanism drives the cylinder assembly to move in a horizontal direction and a vertical direction. The second power mechanism drives the spray gun assembly to rotate around a center of the blind hole and ensures that prepared coatings can be evenly distributed along an inner wall of the blind hole. A nozzle end of the spray gun extends into the blind hole, and the spray gun is adjustable relative to the center of the blind hole. A spraying distance is not fixed so as to change the spraying distance. Powder can be fully melted.

The solid lubricant injection device (20) is positioned such that the injection line (L) intersects the spray line (S) at an intersection point (P), which is intermediate the outlet orifice (13) of the thermal spray device (10) and the surface (31) of the component (30) to be coated. Also a process for thermal spray coating a vehicle component (30) with a solid lubricant coating and a vehicle, with such a coated component.

Abstract: A component for a hot-dip metal plating bath includes a base material and a thermal spray coating disposed to cover a surface of the base material. The base material includes ferritic stainless steel that contains: C: 0.10% to 0.50% by mass; Si: 0.01% to 4.00% by mass; Mn: 0.10% by mass to 3.00% by mass; Cr: 15.0% to 30.0% by mass; a total of Nb, V, Ti, and Ta: 0.9% by mass to 5.0% by mass; and a balance of Fe and unavoidable impurities. The ferritic stainless steel includes a microstructure that includes a ferrite phase as a main phase and a crystallized carbide, an area fraction of a Nb carbide, a Ti carbide, a V carbide, a Ta carbide, and a composite carbide thereof to the crystallized carbide of 30% or more. The component contains 50% by mass or more of Al.

Abstract: Embodiments of wear resistant ferrous alloys are disclosed herein. In some embodiments, ferrous alloys can have a matrix which includes near spherical and hypereutectic borides and/or borocarbides while at the same time avoiding the formation of rod-like borides and/or borocarbides. In some embodiments, the wear resistant ferrous alloys can be used as a coating, such as a hardfacing layer, to add protection to different components.
