摘要： A thermoplastic bag structure having, in its lay-flat condition, a front and rear bag wall, a two-film heat seal bottom; the outer side margins of the full length of said bag being folded toward but spaced from each other. The top most edge of each fold is heat sealed through the four films thereof along line corresponding to the width of the folds. An open mouth top portion being characterized by having double film handle loops at opposite ends of said mouth, said double film loops being extensions of the folded regions of said bags and the corresponding regions of said front and rear walls. The bag structures can be unitized by providing a detachable tab at the bag mouth opening and unitizing the bag structures through this tab. The method of forming said bags involves providing an end sealed collapsed thermoplastic film tube, folding the sides of the tube toward but spaced from each other, heat sealing one end of the tube through four layers thereof and removing plastic from this end of the structure to form a bag mouth and handles at one end thereof. The resulting bag is an ungusseted bag which can be unitized into a pack by providing a detachable, unitizing tab at the bag mouth opening.

摘要： Apparatus for stacking and conveying flat articles that are preferably provided with locating holes and preferably consist of bags that have been severed from a tubular or semitubular plastic film web and have been closed by welding. The bags are carried from a forming station to a pair of adjacent, parallel stacking conveyors by a rotatable wicketer having spaced pairs of radial transfer arms. The stacking conveyors include endless belt like carries that pass around rotatable wheels or rollers and are intermittently driven. The carriers include upstanding stacking pins or stacking needles, which extend from and are secured to carrying plates mounted on the carriers. Two spaced, adjacent stacking conveyors are provided and different tools for acting on the intermittently conveyed stacks of bags are selectively provided and detachably secured to the frame of the apparatus between the stacking conveyors. The stacking conveyors and tools are movable transversely relative to the conveying direction to adjust the positions of the tools relative to the bags.

摘要： In an apparatus for making plastics carrier bags from a web of tubular film of thermoplastic material, a feeding mechanism intermittently conveys the webs by one bag width and a severing mechanism cuts the web into half tubes along an undulating curve. A carriage displaceable in the machine frame transversely to the feeding direction of the web is reciprocated by a drive derived from a first rotating control cam through gearing. A cutting knife pivotable in the carriage about its longitudinal axis passes through the plane of the tube about an axis perpendicular thereto and is so controlled by an oscillating drive derived from a second rotating control cam that its edge is substantially tangential to the undulating curve at the cutting point. A detour assembly retards one of the half tubes to bring the bag side edge zones into phase and each half tube is formed into bags by a transverse sever-sealing device.

摘要： A plastic shopping bag is provided with an integral handle portion of wave configuration having a strip of reinforcement material therein of heavier gauge plastic than the remainder of the bag. A plurality of such bags are fabricated by providing a flattened plastic film tube which has coextensive overlapping strips of heavier gauge material on the opposite faces thereof, cutting through the tube faces along a cutting line of cyclically recurring wave configuration that extends in the direction of elongation of the heavier gauge strips, the wavelength of said wave configuration being substantially equal to the desired width of the mouth of one of said shopping bags and the amplitude of said wave configuration being greater than the widths of said heavier gauge strips whereby the crests of the wave configuration are located at positions outside the boundary edges of the heavier gauge strips, and thereafter cutting the two faces along transverse seam lines which extend from the wave configuration crests to the outer edges of the flat tube of plastic film material.

摘要： A flexible bag construction and a method for producing the bag. The construction is formed from flexible plastic films located in overlying relationship with one film defining a return portion having a free edge positioned inwardly from the top of the bag. A second free edge is defined by a separate film portion in spaced relationship relative to the first free edge. A flexible plastic strip is introduced between the return portion and the opposing film and this strip is heat sealed in place. The second free edge provides a means for inserting articles into the bag whereby the bag can be used for merchandising purposes, particularly after being sealed along the second free edge. An opening is preferably formed in the top of the bag extending through overlying film portions and the intermediate strip to provide means for suspending the bag.
