Abstract: The electrostatic precipitator (1) includes the housing (8) having the air duct (7) for communicating between the inlet (4) for sucking the contaminated air (3) and the outlet (6) for discharging the cleaned air (5), the air flow generator (10) generating the air flow (9) in the air duct (7), the collecting section (14) having a plurality of adsorption plates (13) rotating in accordance with the adsorption shaft (11), and the discharge section (24) equipped with the charging plate (20) having the discharge surface (21) opposing the adsorption surface (12) of the adsorption plate (13) and a plurality of the discharge electrodes (19) provided at the edge (22) of the charging plate (20) opposite the suction inlet. The fine particles (2) contained in the contaminated air (3) are charged by the corona discharge (CD) generated from the pointed ends (23) of the discharge electrodes (19) and collected by using the Coulomb force while varying the relative positional relationship between fine particles (2) and the adsorption surface (12) at all times by the rotating of the adsorption plate (13).

The device includes a discharge corona conductive electrode, and a non-corona conductive receptor electrode. The receptor electrode has an open cellular foam structure and a pseudo planar active surface that faces the discharge electrode. The active surface of the receptor electrode has a multiplicity of substantially sharpened points.

Abstract: An air cleaner is provided according to an embodiment of the invention. The air cleaner includes a power supply, an electrostatic precipitator cell, and a door. The door closes the electrostatic precipitator cell inside the air cleaner. The air cleaner further includes a door switch that is actuated by the door when the door is substantially closed. The air cleaner further includes a cell presence switch. The electrostatic precipitator cell actuates the cell presence switch when the electrostatic precipitator cell is at least partially inserted into the air cleaner. The cell presence switch and the door switch enable electrical power to be supplied from the power source to one or more air cleaner components when the electrostatic precipitator cell is at least partially inserted into the air cleaner and when the door is substantially closed.

The device comprises a discharge corona conductive electrode, and a non-corona conductive receptor electrode. The pseudo-planar active surface of its receptor electrode is covered with a quasi-uniformly distributed plurality of sharp-edged craters, enclosed by a pseudo-circle, having on their end edges a section with minimum bend radius, and enclosing orifices, emerging outwards of the active surface. Said sharp-edged craters are quasi-uniformly distributed on the active surface, in both its geometrical directions. The surface flow of ions derived from the corona electrode towards the active surface of the receptor electrode has increased homogeneity. Preferably, the receptor electrode is produced by means of an array of metal fins.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a Wet Electrostatic Precipitator Air (WEPA) Purifier and purification method capable of stand-alone operation as the principal air purification system, particularly in military applications. This system is intended to supply small military units within a temporary structure clean, threat-free fresh air for periods up to 12 months without maintenance. The WEPA Purifier is configured to remove and sterilize biological threat particles from an airflow, and further remove and sequester radioactive particulates, thus allowing them to be safely removed at normal maintenance periods. The WEPA Purifier includes a wet electrostatic precipitator filtration element in which particles are charged and collected by a capturing solution flowing over an attracting electrode collection plate. The water is returned by gravity to a reservoir where it is disinfected and captured particles retained in a small, low maintenance, regenerative liquid filter.

The air cleaner includes an air duct including an inlet end and an outlet end, a pre-filter positioned at the inlet end, an electrostatic precipitator positioned in the air duct downstream of the pre-filter, a post-filter positioned in the air duct downstream of the electrostatic precipitator, and a fan unit positioned in the air duct downstream of the post-filter. Abstract: An electrostatic precipitator that removes zinc whiskers from cooling air provided to cool components in an electronics enclosure. The electrostatic precipitator comprises an ionizer configured to apply a charge to zinc whiskers suspended in the cooling air.
