    摘要: A headlamp for a vehicle includes a lamp housing having an opening portion; a discharge lamp removably contained in the lamp housing; and a lighting circuit unit, mounted in such a manner so as to cover the opening portion from a rear surface side of the lamp housing, for lighting the discharge lamp. A plug is separated from a cord connector when the lighting circuit unit is removed from the lamp housing. Thus, when the work of removing the lighting circuit unit is completed, the plug is necessarily separated from the cord connector, to thereby cut off the power supply to the lighting circuit unit.

    摘要: A head lamp in which the sub-lamp luminous intensity distribution pattern is designed to control light from a discharge bulb by a plurality of reflective surface elements constituting the reflective surface of a reflector even in such a state that the reflector has been subjected to aiming adjustment. A reflective surface element (22As1) which is positioned in the outermost side portion out of a plurality of reflective surface elements (22As) constituting the horizontal cut-line forming area (22A) of a reflector reflective surface (22) has a concave horizontal sectional shape and rays of the light reflected from the reflective surface element (22As1) are made to horizontally cross each other so as to form a luminous intensity distribution pattern (PA1). Thus, the reflector is aimed to the left and with the luminous intensity distribution pattern (PA1) as a leftover luminous intensity distribution pattern on a oblique cut line side with respect to the original luminous intensity distribution pattern when the light reflected from the left-hand end portion of the reflective surface element (22As1) is shaded by an extension (28), part of the hot zone (HZ) of a sublamp luminous intensity distribution pattern (P) is formed therewith.

    摘要: The headlight has a gas discharge lamp and a reflector. The reflector has an upper reflector region and a lower reflector region. A lens is arranged after the reflector in a light outlet direction, and a screen device is provided between the reflector and the lens. A movable screen member of the screen device is adjustable between a position for low beam in which it screens light reflected from the lower reflector region and produces a bright-dark limit, and a position for high beam in which light reflected from the lower reflector region passes past the screen member and can exit the headlight. Moreover, the movable screen member in its position for low beam is adjustable between a position for right traffic and a position for left traffic. Therefore the head light can be used in a simple manner as a high beam head light and a low beam head light, and also can be converted for the utilization for right traffic and left traffic.

    摘要: Lamp assemblies, typically utilized in vehicle headlamps, include an arc discharge lamp, a base assembly and a mounting flange. The discharge lamp and the base assembly are movable relative to the mounting flange during focusing and are secured in a fixed position relative to the mounting flange following focusing of the discharge lamp. In a first embodiment, the base assembly includes a base, a wedge for holding the discharge lamp and an igniter attached to the base. An RF ring is located in a channel between the base and the mounting flange. The RF ring is fused to the base and to the mounting flange following focusing. In a second embodiment, the mounting flange and the base have mating spherical surfaces which permit a light-emitting portion of the discharge lamp to be moved laterally with respect to the mounting flange axis during focusing. In a third embodiment, the igniter is attached to the mounting flange and is electrically connected to the discharge lamp by flexible electrical leads, thereby permitting the mounting flange and igniter to be moved relative to the base assembly and the discharge lamp during focusing.

If an impact is applied to the front side of a headlamp, the container casing rises, thereby protecting the container casing from breakage because of a cushioning effect obtained when the container casing partially deforms the reflector.

    摘要: An automobile headlamp apparatus comprising a direct current driven discharge lamp surrounded by a concave main mirror which confronts a concave spheroidal sub mirror. The main mirror has a first focus point located substantially at a center of a discharge gap of the discharge lamp between the cathode and anode thereof, while the sub mirror has first and second focus points and an opening therein around the optical axis of the sub mirror. The first and second focus points of the sub mirror are arranged to be substantially on the tips of the cathode and anode of the discharge lamp, respectively. A convex lens may be included to condense the light from the main mirror, wherein the main mirror has a second focus point at a focus point of the convex lens. A shade forming a favorable illumination pattern may be included. In one embodiment, a diagonal mirror is inserted between the main mirror and the convex lens to bend the light from the discharge lamp. An optical light guide may be provided between the diagonal mirror and the convex lens, and/or the discharge tube may be attached to a completed assembly of the main mirror and sub-mirror.
