Abstract:
An improved automatic filtration and extraction device is disclosed which comprises a base defining at a top end a cavity area which tapers downwardly and inwardly from the top end to define a chamber for a portion and then defines a plurality of effluent outlets at the bottom end each extending from the chamber to an outer surface of the body. Seals are adapted to each of the effluent outlets and are moveable between a first closed position sealing the effluent outlet and a second open position to allow the passage of effluent through the effluent outlet. A filter is detachably and removably adapted over the cavity area. Various solvents are provided to the cavity area through a solvent provider. A circuit with programmable memory accesses and directs a sequence of events after an initial event. A vacuum connected to each of the effluent outlets each induces effluent flow through an effluent outlet while sealing all other outlets. A removable valve assembly attaches to the sample bottle such that the bottle and valve assembly may be removed as a single unit from the base. An extraction sequence may be manually interrupted for removal of the sample bottle to another station.

Abstract:
An apparatus for filtering and cooling liquid, with four filtration chambers are connected by a series of passageways. The apparatus is mounted on a cart so that it may be rolled into position under a machine quickly and easily. Once the apparatus is in position, the machine is drained of its debris-laden oil which flows directly into the first chamber and through the first wire mesh filter. The liquid is then forced either by gravity or by pressure through the remaining chambers and their respective filters which have progressively smaller pore sizes. The tortuous movement of the liquid around the weirs helps to cool the liquid while the filters remove foreign particles from the liquid. Once the liquid reaches the fourth chamber, a pump is used to pump the cleansed liquid back into the machine so that it may be reused. The inlet to the pump may be fitted with an optional fifth filter element. Each chamber houses a tray assembly which includes a handle that protrudes above the chamber, a bracket that hold the replaceable wire mesh filters, and a catch pan that collects any solids that have settled to the bottom of each chamber. The filters have gaskets to prevent fluids from by-passing the filters and the filter pore size can vary with the application. The first embodiment may be operated at atmospheric pressure, while a second embodiment is equipped with a top on the tank which allows the system to be pressurized.
Abstract:
A filter for a washing machine is disclosed. The filter includes a filter case attached to an inner lower portion of a dehydrating tub of the washing machine for forming a predetermined space with the dehydrating tub, including an attachment portion for being attached to the dehydrating tub and a filter receiving portion formed with an opening portion, and a pocket type filter including a front panel attached with a mesh net to one side thereof for filtering fluff intermingled in the washing water, a rear panel for forming a predetermined space with the front panel by being coupled to the front panel by means of a hinge shaft to be opened/closed while being attached with a mesh net for filtering the fluff intermingled in the washing water to one side thereof, and a check valve fixed to the lower side of the rear panel for confining the flow of the washing water introduced into the space between the front panel and the rear panel, the pocket type filter being inserted into the filter receiving portion and being made of a transparent material. Since the front panel of the pocket type filter is made of a transparent material and the pocket type filter is revealed without screening by the filter case, it is possible to measure the amount of the fluff accumulated within the pocket type filter without separating the pocket type filter from the filter case.
Abstract:
A wine and cork separating device for use with a wine bottle having a broken cork lodged in the neck portion thereof. The device includes an upper pouring spout and a hollow tubular member extending downwardly therefrom. The pouring spout defines a tapered outer wall so as to create a press fitment with the open end of the wine bottle upon being inserted therein and carries a cork and wine sediment filtering screen extending across the interior thereof. The tubular member defines a plurality of fluid passages proximate the lower end portion thereof to facilitate pouring of the wine through the device. The hollow tubular member is used both to drive the broken cork into the interior of the bottle and upon being inserted through the neck of the bottle such that the spout portion is held in a press fitment with the open end of the bottle, the tubular member projects through the interior of the neck portion of the bottle and prevents the cork from entering the neck portion and interfering with the wine being poured from the bottle.
Abstract:
Apparatus for cleaning fluids, especially cooling lubricants of machine tools. The apparatus includes a tank having a partition subdividing it into a sedimentation chamber and a clean chamber and having an inlet for the contaminated cooling lubricant and a discharge device for the cleaned cooling lubricant. A filter is mounted between the sedimentation chamber and the clean chamber and a conveyor device is mounted in the sedimentation chamber for removing sedimented particles from the tank. An environmentally safe and low-maintenance cleaning apparatus according to this invention is created by the fact that the sedimentation chamber is subdivided by a partition into an inlet area and a preliminary cleaning area that are connected to each other by a passage in the lower area of the partition. The filter is an edge filter mounted in the partition between the preliminary cleaning area and the clean chamber.

Abstract:
A greatly simplified improved vacuum filter funnel consists of two pieces, namely an upper reservoir member and a lower spout member. The upper reservoir member has an annular ring downwardly extending from the bottom thereof which fits inside an annular rim upwardly extending from the top of the lower spout member. A filter disk rests on an integral grid at the top of the lower spout member and is held in place between the upper and lower members by solely the weight of the upper member. The filter disk is readily removed after simply lifting up the upper reservoir member. Both the reservoir and spout members are preferably constructed of a chemical and heat resistant organic plastic, for example polysulfone, so that the parts may be sterilized in an autoclave.
Abstract:
A filter for a synthetic resin melt has a housing formed from two blocks through which a melt channel for the passage of the plastics melt passes. A screen plate is rotatably mounted to intrude between the blocks and a plurality of recesses are distributed in a circular pattern around the periphery of the screen plate so that rotation can bring two of the recesses in to line with the channel. A plurality of filter elements are accommodated, one each in each recess, so that the plastic melt must pass through the filters in the recesses in line with the channel. To support the filter elements against melt pressure a stationary perforated plate is located in the channel immediately adjacent and downstream of the screen plate. By rotating the screen plate exhausted filter elements can be readily replaced. The filter elements are made of woven wire cloth and may be dished to prevent distortion of the mesh.
