    Abstract: AT commands are used for controlling Mobile Termination (MT) functions and GSM/UMTS network services from a Terminal Equipment (TE) through Terminal Adaptor (TA). 3GPP introduces multiple backoff timers and barring to solve network congestion problem. However, a TE does not know the timer value and the barring status. In accordance with one novel aspect, a new AT command interface that can respond timer value and barring status to the TE is proposed. It reduces wasteful retries and saves power consumption of the TE. Through the new AT command interface, the TE can query backoff timer status. Via unsolicited result code (URC), the MT can detect backoff timer status change and report updated backoff timer status to the TE.

    Abstract: A method of timer handing upon SIM/USIM replacement is proposed. A user equipment (UE) initiates a session management (SM) or a mobility management (MM) request with a wireless network. The UE is attached to the network using a first SIM/USIM/profile. When NAS level session management (SM) or mobility management (MM) congestion control is active, the UE receives a SM/MM reject message from the network, which contains timer information. Based on the timer information, the UE starts a timer such that corresponding SM/MM request is barred. When a user replaces the first SIM/USIM/profile with a second SIM/USIM/profile while maintains power on, the UE stops the timer accordingly. As a result, the UE is able to initiate corresponding SM/MM request with the network.

The device-assisted solution for SIM replacement complies with existing security/authentication model, has no standard charge, and complies with existing SIM replacement model and offers a simpler and more automatic procedure.

    Abstract: A method of supporting group communication over LTE MBMS is provided. A UE first establishes a unicast Evolved Packet Service (EPS) bearer in an LTE network for group communication. The UE belongs to a communication group having a communication group ID. The UE receives access information from the network for monitoring downlink (DL) multicast traffic of the DL group communication based on a multicast decision. The UE is then ready for monitoring a multicast Multimedia Broadcast Multicast Service (MBMS) bearer for receiving the DL multicast traffic. The multicast MBMS bearer is associated with a Temporary Mobile Group Identifier (TMGI), and wherein the TMGI is associated with the communication group ID. In one embodiment, the access information comprises mapping information between the TMGI and the communication group ID.

    Abstract: A method for route selection policy (URSP) rule matching enhancement in EPS is proposed. When an application is executed, the upper layer of a UE sends the application information to URSP entity for matching a URSP rule. The UE selects and evaluates a route selection descriptor (RSD) from a list of RSDs of a selected URSP rule to be matched with a PDN connection. If there is a “PDU session pair ID type” and/or “RSN type” route selection descriptor components in an RSD, such RSD components are intended for a redundant PDU session, which is not supported in EPS. Therefore, the UE ignores the specific RSD components and continues to evaluate the RSD with the remaining RSD components.

    Abstract: A method of determining paging restriction on downlink signals for MUSIM UEs is proposed. If a UE requests the network to support paging restriction over the first USIM, the UE can send a request message to the network, carrying a UE-preferred paging restriction information. Subsequently, the UE should then receive an accept message from the network that the paging is restricted over the first USIM based on the UE-preferred paging restriction information. As a result, when DL signaling is pending for the UE over the first USIM, the network can determine whether it should page the UE over the first USIM based on the paging restriction type indicated in the paging restriction information. Since the DL signaling is selectively restricted over USIM1, the UE can perform more important jobs over USIM2 with better performance and user experience.

    Abstract: A method of handling NAS signaling connection release under mobility management congestion control for MUSIM UE is proposed. A MUSIM UE has established a NAS signaling connection on a first USIM in connected mode. Later on, the MUSIM UE has more important job to be started on the second USIM. The MUSIM UE wishes to initiate a service request procedure by transmitting a service request to the network, to release the NAS signaling connection on the first USIM. However, under the 5GMM/EMM signaling congestion condition with timer T3346 running, the AMF/MME rejects 5GMM/EMM signaling requests from UE. In one novel aspect, the MUSIM UE requests the network to release the NAS signaling connection while timer T3346 is still running. As a result, the MUSIM UE is able to start the more important job on the second USIM, or to improve user experience on the second USIM.
