Abstract: Apparatuses, computer readable media, and methods for indicating a resource allocation are disclosed. An apparatus of a high-efficiency wireless local area network (HEW) master station is disclosed. The HEW master station includes circuitry configured to generate a resource allocation for HEW stations, where the resource allocation includes a group identification and an index into a table. The circuitry is further configured to transmit the resource allocation to the HEW stations. The table may be a permutation table that indicates a sub-channel of a bandwidth for each of the HEW stations. The HEW master station may be configured to operate in accordance with orthogonal frequency division multi-access (OFDMA). The resource allocation may be part of a trigger frame that includes a duration for an uplink or downlink transmission opportunity, and the circuitry may be further configured to transmit data to the HEW stations in accordance with the resource allocation.

Abstract: Example systems, methods, and devices for channel access in dense wireless networks are discussed. More specifically, methods may include transmitting one or more trigger frames from an access point to one or more communication stations, the one or more trigger frames comprising a plurality of components, the plurality of components indicating whether trigger frames within a beacon interval are scheduled in a periodic or aperiodic manner, and if periodic trigger frames are scheduled, then indicating a countdown to the next trigger frame, and if aperiodic trigger frames are scheduled, then indicating the time to the next trigger frame scheduled by the access point. Methods, apparatus, and systems described herein can be applied to 802.11ax or any other wireless standard.

Abstract: Embodiments of master station and method for high-efficiency WLAN (HEW) communication are generally described herein. In some embodiments, the master station is configured for HEW communication in accordance with an IEEE 802.11ax technique. The master station may transmit an indication to one or more of a plurality of HEW stations to indicate which one of a plurality of 20 MHz channels to monitor for a HEW signal field. The master station may configure the HEW signal field to indicate which of a plurality of subchannels of the indicated 20 MHz channel is allocated to the HEW stations for communication. The master station may transmit the configured HEW signal field in the indicated one of the 20 MHz channels and may communicate with the HEW stations on the indicated subchannels in accordance with an orthogonal-frequency divisional multiple access (OFDMA) technique.

Abstract: Wireless devices, methods, and computer-readable media for transmitting and receiving high-efficiency signal fields. An access point (AP) may include circuitry configured to determine a high-efficiency signal (HE-SIG) field for each of a plurality of sub-channels, wherein each HE-SIG field includes a common part and a sub-channel specific part. The circuitry may be further configured to transmit, in accordance with orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA), on each of the plurality of sub-channels, a corresponding HE-SIG field as a preamble to a physical layer convergence protocol (PLCP) protocol data unit (PPDU), wherein the sub-channel specific part of the corresponding HE-SIG field includes a resource map field that enables a HEW device to determine which portion of the PPDU to demodulate, and wherein the common portion includes information of a format of the PPDU. A HEW device may include circuitry configured to demodulate a PPDU based on a HE-SIG field.

Abstract: Apparatus, computer readable medium, and methods for initiating uplink multi-user medium access in high-efficiency wireless local-area networks (WLANs) are disclosed. A station is disclosed comprising circuitry configured to generate a trigger frame comprising one or more resource allocations. Each of the resource allocations may include an indication of whether the resource allocation is an orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) resource allocation or a multiple-user multiple-input multiple-output (MU-MIMO) resource allocation. An identity either of an OFDMA group or an MU-MIMO group may be included. Each resource allocation may include an indication of a bandwidth for the OFDMA resource allocation or a bandwidth for the MU-MIMO resource allocation. Each OFDMA resource allocation may include one or more indications of an address of one or more HE stations and one or more indications of an OFDMA sub-channel resource allocation for the corresponding HE station.

Abstract: Embodiments of a communication station and method for communicating in a wireless network are generally described herein. In some embodiments, the communication station may be configured to communicate orthogonal frequency division multiplexed (OFDM) symbols on channel resources in accordance with an orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) technique during a control period. The channel resources may comprise one or more minimum bandwidth units. Each minimum bandwidth unit may have a predetermined bandwidth and may be configured in accordance with one of a plurality of subcarrier allocations for one of a plurality of interleaver configurations.

Abstract: Systems and techniques for random access to a wireless network are described herein. Components of a wireless station may obtain a back-off value. The components may also decode random access resource units from a frame transmitted to the wireless station from an access point of the wireless network. The components may decrement the back-off for each decoded random access frame. The wireless station may select this frame from a sequence of frames when the back-off reaches zero while decoding the random access resource units of this frame. The wireless station then selects the random access resource unit with a more favorable transmission metric than another random access resource unit of the frame and uses the selected random access resource unit to communicate with the access point.

Abstract: Methods, apparatuses, and computer readable media are disclosed to signal a packet configuration. A HEW device to signal a packet configuration may include circuitry. The circuitry may be configured to generate a HE packet comprising a legacy signal field (L-SIG) followed by one or more HE signal fields and include in the L-SIG the packet configuration of the HE packet to signal to a second HEW device. The circuitry may configure a length field of the L-SIG to be a one or two modulo of three (MOD 3) to indicate the HE packet. The length field of the L-SIG may indicate that the HE packet includes a portion that has a one-quarter size subcarrier. The circuitry may set the length field of the L-SIG to be 1 mod 3 to indicate a first type of HE packet and to be 2 mod 3 to indicate a second type of HE packet.

Abstract: Embodiments of an access point and method for high-efficiency WLAN (HEW) communication are generally described herein. In some embodiments, the access point may be configured to operate as a master station and may configure an HEW frame to include a legacy signal field (L-SIG), an HEW signal field (HEW SIG-A) following the L-SIG, and one or more HEW fields following the HEW SIG-A. The L-SIG may be configured for transmission using a legacy number of data subcarriers, a legacy number of pilot subcarriers and a number of additional reference subcarriers modulated with a known reference sequence. At least one symbol of the HEW SIG-A and the one or more HEW fields following the HEW SIG-A of the HEW frame may be configured for transmission using additional data subcarriers. The additional data subcarriers may correspond to the additional reference subcarriers of the L-SIG.
