Abstract: To facilitate sending a reference signal in a wireless communication environment, a transmitter sends a reference signal in a first time-frequency resource to a user equipment (UE); the transmitter sends data information in a first portion of a second time-frequency resource different from the first time-frequency resource to the UE; and the transmitter excludes data information from being sent in a second portion of the second time-frequency resource. The second portion of the second time-frequency resource is designated for use by another transmitter for sending another reference signal to the UE.

In embodiments of the present invention, a reference signal configuration matched with an optimal actual channel of a UE can be selected when an RRH or a base station is geographically separated, so that the UE can acquire a good channel condition.

Abstract: A communication method and apparatus are provided. A terminal device determines a first transmission time period and a second transmission time period, where the first transmission time period includes X1 time units, the second transmission time period includes X2 time units, and the first transmission time period does not overlap the second transmission time period.
