    Abstract: A display panel includes a plurality of array sites arranged in an array defined by a plurality of rows and a plurality of columns. The display panel includes a first area of the array having a first pixel density and a second area of the array having a second pixel density lower than the first pixel density. The second area of the array includes a plurality of the array sites that are devoid of pixels. Rows of the second area that border the first area include at least one pixel and columns of the second area that border the first area include at least one pixel.

    Abstract: In general, the subject matter described in this disclosure can be embodied in a display panel. The display panel includes a first area of multiple pixels that has a first density of light emitting diodes (LEDs), and that has an equal representation of LEDs of a first color, a second color, and a third color.     Abstract: This document describes systems and directed at rejecting display leakage light in under-display sensors. In aspects, an ambient light sensor of an electronic device rejects leakage light originating from pixels in a display using a look-up table and an ambient light calculating formula. In implementations, the look-up table is developed based on a variety of operating conditions that the electronic device may experience, including variable refresh rates and display luminosities. The look-up table includes pre-calculated values of a leakage light ratio, for given operating conditions, that can be used to reject leakage light originating from displays by computing the ambient light calculating formula.

    Abstract: PWM-frame rate misalignment is mitigated through implementation of a discrete variable refresh rate (VRR) scheme. A target frame rate is limited to a frame rate selected from only those frame rates that facilitate alignment of each frame period to a specified edge of a PWM cycle of a brightness control signal of a display panel. This alignment results in each frame period at the selected frame rate starting at a same point in a corresponding PWM cycle and ending at a same point in a corresponding PWM cycle to help ensure a constant effective duty cycle across each successive frame period, which in turn mitigates perception of flicker that otherwise would arise. Further, the discrete VRR scheme can employ a compensation mode for compensating for the delay in rendering or otherwise obtaining a frame for display so as to maintain a consistent duty cycle in the brightness control signal.
