Abstract: A waveguide structure to allow device to determine its orientation are disclosed. The waveguide may be formed of a dielectric core and a cladding. The dielectric core may be formed of a solid dielectric material that conducts radio waves at millimeter wave frequencies and above. The cladding may encapsulate the core, and may include at least two conductive portions. Each conductive portion may be disposed around less than the entire core. The conductive portions allow electrical signals to flow between two devices to determine an orientation of the waveguide.

Abstract: A voltage of a first pin that is one of several pins of an external connector of a system is measured, while the first pin is un-driven except for being pulled to ground through a first resistance, and a second pin of the external connector is being used as a power supply rail of the system. The measured voltage is compared to a short circuit threshold and in response to that threshold being exceeded, the power supply voltage on the second pin is reduced. In such an embodiment, no test stimulus needs to be applied to any of the pins of the external connector. Other embodiments are also described and claimed.

Abstract: High-speed connectors that save space in an electronic device, are simple to connect, and are readily manufactured. One example can provide a high-speed connector having high-speed connections. The high-speed connections can be integrated with low-speed connections in a board-to-board structure to save space in an electronic device. An example can provide high-speed connections that are simple to connect. The board-to-board structure can include a board-to-board plug, where each high-speed connection includes a high-speed contact having a lateral portion. The lateral portion can include right-angle tabs to guide a central conductor of a coaxial cable. The central conductor of each coaxial cable can be soldered to a corresponding lateral portion. Ground contacts for the board-to-board plug can include crimping portions to connect to an outer shield of each coaxial cable. These high-speed connectors can be readily manufactured by utilizing stamped contacts and molded housings.

Abstract: A case for an earbud includes a receiving cavity sized and shaped to accept the earbud within the receiving cavity. The case includes one or more housing magnetic components configured to magnetically attract and secure the earbud within the receiving cavity. The one or more housing magnetic components can be configured to form a Halbach array to increase the magnetic force of the one or more housing magnetic components. The earbud includes a speaker magnet and a separate magnetic element that are arranged to be attracted to the one or more housing magnetic components such that the earbud is attracted into the receiving cavity.
