Abstract:
Process for the production of high-purity isobutene starting from a stream prevalently containing MTBE (Methyl-Tert Butyl Ether) or ETBE (Ethyl-Tert Butyl Ether) which essentially comprises the following areas in sequence: • a fractionation area for obtaining a stream of high-purity MTBE or ETBE; • a cracking area of said stream of MTBE or ETBE for obtaining an outgoing stream prevalently containing isobutene and the relative alcohol, methanol or ethanol; • a washing area with water of the stream leaving the cracking area for the recovery of the relative alcohol, in order to obtain a stream containing isobutene, the ether fed and light compounds and a stream substantially consisting of water and relative alcohol, with a relevant fractionation section for separating the washing water to be recycled to the same washing area from the relative alcohol; • a fractionation area of the stream containing isobutene, the ether fed and light compounds for separating a stream of high-purity isobutene. The process can be possibly integrated with a process for the production of MTBE or ETBE.
Abstract:
A gas diffusion system configured to feed a gas stream, in particular a passivating gas stream, into an apparatus, in particular a decomposer, of a urea plant; the system extends along an axis and has a gas feed conduit having an outlet from which the gas flows substantially parallel to the axis, and a diffuser assembly configured to diffuse the gas supply from the conduit; the diffuser assembly is shaped so as to intercept the gas stream flowing axially from the outlet, and divert the gas stream substantially radially with respect to the axis and uniformly about the axis.
Abstract:
A vessel for laying a pipeline includes a plurality of workstations disposed along a pipelaying path that includes an upstream portion away from a first end of the vessel and a plurality of ramps in the region of the first end of the vessel. The plurality of ramps includes a first ramp which is disposed along the pipelaying path, whose inclination is adjustable and which has a first upstream end and a second downstream end, and a second ramp which is disposed along the pipelaying path downstream of the first ramp, whose inclination is adjustable and which has a first upstream end and a second downstream end. The downstream end of the first ramp is positioned inboard of the first end of the vessel and above the bottom of the vessel and the upstream end of the second ramp is positioned inboard of the first end of the vessel and above the bottom of the vessel. An external ramp assembly is provided, including ramps and that can be pivoted relative to one another and locked in a selected position by a locking arrangement.
Abstract:
A process for the direct synthesis of urea from ammonia and carbon dioxide with increased corrosion resistance, comprising, in the high-pressure synthesis section, a reaction step in a vertical reactor fed with at least one stream of fresh carbon dioxide containing a passivating agent and a decomposition-stripping step of the non-converted reagents, wherein the gas-liquid mixture collected at the head of the reactor is separated into a gaseous stream and a liquid stream fed to the tail and head of the stripper, respectively.
Abstract:
A system configured to handle reels for laying elongated members on the bed of a body of water, and in particular for transferring reels between an auxiliary structure and a laying vessel, has a bridge configured to connect the auxiliary structure and the laying vessel; and actuators configured to move a reel along and resting on the bridge.
Abstract:
A method of laying conduit at sea from a reel vessel includes the steps of laying conduit, for example pipeline or umbilical, from a first reel which rotates about a first substantially vertical axis. Conduit is laid from a second reel of conduit rotating about a second substantially vertical axis spaced apart from the first axis. A portion of the route travelled by the conduit during the step of laying conduit from the first reel of conduit is substantially the same as a portion of the route travelled by the conduit during the step of laying conduit from the second reel of conduit, for example, the conduit from the second reel may pass around a part of the periphery of the first reel and then follow substantially the same path as previously travelled by the conduit laid from the first reel.
Abstract:
An electronic control system configured to control a variable-configuration lay ramp of a pipeline laying vessel, to lay a pipeline on the bed of a body of water, is configured to: acquire data including data related to the configuration of the lay ramp, data related to the laying vessel, and data related to the forces transmitted by the lay ramp and the laying vessel to the pipeline; generate a plurality of step sequences to change the configuration of the lay ramp from a first to a second work configuration; and select a best step sequence as a function of the plurality of step sequences and the acquired data, so as to minimize the stress induced in the pipeline at each intermediate configuration between the first and second work configuration.
Abstract:
A method of joining pipes to produce underwater pipelines, wherein the facing free ends of two adjacent pipes, aligned along an axis, are welded to define a cutback; a protective sheet of plastic material is extruded close to the cutback; and the protective sheet is wound about the cutback.
