摘要: A device for the sanitary drainage of the contents of an ostomy pouch into a waste receptacle (e.g., toilet) is provided. The device includes a base; an extendible shaft coupled to the base; a body that receives the ostomy pouch while it is attached to a patient and directs the contents of the pouch into a chute; a pivoting mechanism that couples the body to the shaft to adjust the angle there between; and a chute coupled to the body that directs the contents of the ostomy pouch into the waste receptacle. The device and the adjustability that it provides offers patients, particularly mobile patients, the ability to sanitarily and ergonomically empty their ostomy pouches into a waste receptacle, such as a toilet, while in a standing position.

摘要: An orthodontic appliance for orthodontic treatment of a posterior maxillary sector extending from a mesial anchor tooth to a molar tooth unilaterally on the same side of the maxilla is provided. The appliance features a molar component, a mesial anchor tooth attachment, a long rod, and a hook. The long rod is saddle-shaped in the occlusal-gingival plane, and may have a distal step-down portion. The rod may extend at a mesial end thereof from the mesial anchor tooth attachment towards the molar component in a mesiodistal direction, and the rod may also have a mesial step-up portion starting from the mesial anchor tooth or premolar attachment. The hook may be located on the rod, for attachment with a traction element for direct molar traction. Under force of the traction element the rod exerts force on the molar component for molar distillation.

摘要: A system and method for monitoring or controlling an aerobic landfill bioreactor having a plurality of zones each including at least one well head. The system comprises: a gas extraction blower, a plurality of temperature sensors disposed in the well heads, an ex-situ relative humidity detector, an ex-situ gas constituent detector, an air injection system, a liquid injection system, and a controller. Landfill gas is extracted by the blower and it's temperature, relative humidity, and gas constituents are measured. The system further comprises a system of headers, isolation valves, and flow control valves which serve to isolate zones for measurement and/or air and liquid injection as well as control the flow of either the landfill gas extraction or liquid and air injection. The method involves measuring: temperature, relative humidity, and gas constituents of the extracted landfill gas. Advantageously, the ex-site placement of the sensors and detectors ensure that measurements are representative of the aerobic bioreactor operating parameters. The air and liquid injection systems are adjusted, based on the measured temperature, relative humidity, and gas constituents to optimize the operation of the aerobic landfill bioreactor.

摘要: A magnetic structure is provided. The magnetic structure may have a first magnetic layer with a first magnetization direction, a second magnetic layer with a second magnetization direction and a coupling layer interposed between the first and second magnetic layers. The coupling layer may include at least one non-magnetic element and at least one magnetic element. The atomic ratio of the at least one non-magnetic element to the at least one magnetic element is (100−x):x, where x is an atomic concentration parameter. Atomic concentration parameter, x, may cause the first magnetic layer to be non-collinearly coupled to the second magnetic layer such that, in the absence of external magnetic field, the first magnetization direction is oriented at a non-collinear angle relative to the second magnetization direction.

摘要: A method, device and system for measuring the volume, classification, direction, and turning movement of vehicular and/or pedestrian traffic through a given location in a given time period. The device is portable and incorporates a touch screen. A set of buttons corresponding to each direction at the location are selected by the user to count particular types of vehicles. The buttons are mapped to fields in a database on a server. The fields correspond to a particular direction. When the orientation of the portable device changes, the buttons are remapped to different database fields than originally mapped. The new fields corresponding to the orientation. The collected data may be transmitted to a server.

摘要: A method for treating depression in a subject in need thereof is provided. The method includes treating the subject by seizure therapy administered through electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) or magnetic seizure therapy (MST). The method further includes evaluating change in complexity of temporal dynamics in the brain of the subject, following treatment, to identify whether complexity of fine time scale temporal dynamics in the fronto-central and/or parieto-occipital region is reduced following treatment. The reduced complexity of fine time scale temporal dynamics in the fronto-central and/or parieto-occipital region following treatment identifies the subject as a responder to the seizure therapy for treating depression. The step of evaluating further comprises identifying change in complexity of coarse scale temporal dynamics in a parieto-central region following treatment.

摘要: A system for increasing the efficiency of separating two liquids through filtration is disclosed. In a detailed example, water (both free and emulsified) is separated from diesel fuel, along with contaminants. The system has a filter medium attached to a support. The support has a tube structure that positions the filter medium away from the top plate. The filter can be positioned in a canister for removing emulsified water from the liquid. This canister can be used in a system to filter liquid stored in a tank that may contain water (emulsified and free) and/or debris. The system and method disclosed is particularly useful for removing emulsified water from diesel, such as ultra-low sulfur diesel (ULSD), bio-blended diesel, and diesel derivatives.

摘要: A method and system of vacuum loading powder used in rotational molding are provided. A loader has a hopper with a tangential inlet at the top and a discharge assembly at the bottom. A vacuum source generates a vacuum at the center of the hopper drawing air and raw material into the tangential inlet. A filter assembly between the tangential inlet and the vacuum source partially separating the air from the raw material. One or more load cells between the hopper and a platform measures an amount of raw material present within the hopper.
