    Abstract: A focus detection device includes: an imaging unit having a first and second pixel each of which receives light transmitted through an optical system and outputs signal used for focus detection, and a third pixel which receives light transmitted through the optical system and outputs signal used for image generation; an input unit to which information regarding the optical system is input; a selection unit that selects one of the first and second pixel based on the information to the input unit; a readout unit that reads out the signal from one of the first and second pixel based on a selection result at a timing different from reading out the signal from the third pixel to be read out; and a focus detection unit that performs the focus detection based on at least one of the signals of the first and second pixel read out by the readout unit.

    Abstract: Provided is an imaging device that is operable to reduce power upon receiving light, even with resolution of the imaging device increased. An imaging device includes: a plurality of pixels that are arranged in a matrix manner and receive reflected light from a target region, each of the plurality of pixels having a light receiving element that outputs an electric signal based on charge accumulated in either one of first and second charge accumulation parts in accordance with the reflected light; and a control part that executes switching control of the first and second charge accumulation parts by switching frequencies for each pixel region constituted of a pixel group of at least one part of an imaging frame formed by the plurality of pixels, the switching frequencies being different from each other.

    Abstract: Provided are a solid-state imaging device, a method for driving a solid-state imaging device, and an electronic apparatus that are capable of selecting a pixel operating mode between a RS mode and a GS mode and switching a conversion gain read-out mode, where signals produced with different conversion gains are read, among several options depending on a scene. As a result, the solid-state imaging device, the method for driving the solid-state imaging device and the electronic apparatus can minimize a drop in SNR at the conjunction point between a HCG signal and a LCG signal and also achieve high full well capacity and little dark noise. In a solid-state imaging device, a pixel part includes pixels arranged in a matrix pattern, and each pixel includes a photoelectric conversion reading part. The solid-state imaging device is capable of performing rolling shutter (RS) and global shutter (GS).
