摘要: A production meat analysis system and method provides means for determining percent or absolute constituents of a production lot of ground meat product immediately following the meat pre-grinding process. During use, the system is located at the output of a production meat pre-grinder such that the ground meat passes over the belt of the weigh conveyor and through the detection field or range of the NIR sensor. During this process, constituent readings for fat, moisture, protein and temperature are recorded for each unit weight pulse. The cumulative weighted average for each constituent is calculated for each unit weight and recorded and displayed on the computer screen as the process continues without stoppage or interruption. Constituent content can thereby be manually or automatically adjusted.

The process of the invention is useful in a wide variety of homoeotherinic animals. Tissue composition characteristics of interest include, without limitation, lean body mass, grade, carcass yield and rib eye area. An apparatus for performing the processes of the invention includes: (a) image acquisition means for obtaining the infrared thermographic images; (b) computing and storage means for storing each image as an array of pixels, calculating the value of statistical measures of the temperature data for each thermographic image, and providing and solving the predictive model; and (c) output means for providing an output of the value of the tissue composition characteristic.

摘要: A reflection measuring device for determining quality properties of items comprises a measuring head with a housing which is optically open in one side. The housing is designed to be placed on the item requiring measurement of the reflection factor, with the open side turned towards the surface of the item. The device has one or more light emitters arranged to illuminate the surface of the item adjacent to the open side of the housing, and a plurality of optical fibres, one end of which leads to the interior of the housing to receive light reflected from the surface of the item and to conduct it to a detection system. The system comprises filter elements each positioned adjacent to the other end of one or more of the optical fibres, each permitting passage of near infrared light in a predetermined wavelength range. Photodetectors each positioned by a filter element are arranged so as to measure the strength of the light passing through the filter. The photodetectors are each connected to an amplifier set to a predetermined amplification. The device is suitable for the on-line determination of the unsaturated fat content in the fatty tissue of carcasses or meat cuts conveyed on a slaughter or production line. On the basis of the unsaturated fat content, the device determines the consistency type of the fatty tissue (firm, normal or soft fatty tissue).

摘要: A system determines the number of days livestock should be maintained on feed for maximum profit. In the preferred embodiment, current attributes such as marbling and backfat thickness are used to predict what these attributes, as predicted attribute values, will be at various times in the future. These predicted attributes along with other factors such as projected rate of weight gain, costs of feed and livestock prices are used to determine how many days the livestock should be maintained on feed in order to maximize profit.

摘要: A method and apparatus for measuring characteristics of meat, such as beef. More particularly, the invention uses quantitative analysis of ultrasonic A scan signals to measure the following characteristics of meat in real time: the percentage of intramuscular fat, the quality grade, the merit number, the depth of back fat and the approximate size of a predetermined rib eye area. The ultrasonic A scan signals are measured above the twelfth rib, above the thirteenth rib and between the twelfth and thirteenth ribs. The invention can be used with either live or processed animals.

摘要: Fecal and/or urinary contamination in meat and poultry can be detected by internalizing into a suitable livestock system a material containing a marker substance, and detecting for the presence or absence of the marker substance on meat values. Typically, the detection is carried out upon slaughter of the livestock and preparation of its meat values for consumption. As an illustration, a flour substance may be included in livestock feed, and, in turn, its presence or absence detected on the meat values under appropriate light conditions as an indicator of fecal contamination. For example, the flour substance may be flourescein, the presence or absence of which may be detected on the processed meat or poultry by ultraviolet light. A detection kiosk may be employed to assist in the detection.

摘要: When a predetermined specific condition is satisfied, input time detection means instructs an image input section to input image information. When receiving the instruction from the input time detection means, the image input section inputs the image information. An image processing section performs image processing of the image information input through the image input section. A specific image storage section stores the image information processed by the image processing section. A game execution section executes a predetermined game in accordance with image information concerning the game stored in a game image storage section. Change time detection means detects a predetermined specific condition being satisfied. Upon detection of the condition, a display control section changes predetermined image information of the image information concerning the game to a specific amount of image information processed by the image processing section and displays it.

摘要: A metal detector includes a receive coil and a transmit coil connected in an inductive bridge. To overcome imbalances in the bridge due for instance to misalignment of the coils or the presence of mineralization in the medium which is being examined, the metal detector automatically produces a nulling (bucking) signal to cancel out the effects of any unwanted receive coil signals detected during calibration. This nulling signal is a nulling current both in terms of level and phase, and its level and phase are determined during a calibration process prior to actual metal detection. By inclusion in the metal detector of a microprocessor (microcontroller) operating at a much higher frequency than the variations in the magnetic field used to detect metal, the nulling signal generation is performed with a high degree of time resolution, resulting a precision metal detector which adaptively ignores any unwanted signals.
