Abstract:
A method of differential unitary space-time modulation is provided by encoding messages to transmit through multiple transmitting antenna into multiple trellis code in a communication system wherein the signals are transmitted between multiple transmitting antennas and at least one receive antenna. The performance provided is superior to that of the modulation of the prior art.
Abstract:
In a transmitting/receiving concept a redundancy-adding encoder with a code rate larger or equal 0.5 is used in order to obtain two data streams for two different transmitters which are arranged at spatially different positions. Both transmitters transmit in the same frequency band. In the receiver, the receiving signal is sampled by a first sampler synchronous to the first transmitter and is output by a second sampler synchronous to the second transmitter in order to obtain a first and a second receiving signal which are fed to a trellis decoder in order to obtain a decoded first and second receiving subgroup of code units which are again fed to a calculating means in order to calculate the interference signals which are then combined with the corresponding receiving signals for an interference reduction. The iterative concept enables an interference reduction for receiving signal generated by two spatially separated transmitters which are transmitting in the same frequency band, however. The receiver concept shows a quick convergence and thus enables the two transmitters to transmit in the same frequency band, which results in a reduction of the required bandwidth by half compared to a corresponding transmitter concept in which the first and the second transmitters transmit at different frequencies.
Abstract:
The evolution of high rate data services within future wireless networks will call for new RF access technologies to enable substantial increases in overall system spectral efficiency at an acceptably low cost to the user. Space-Time Coding (STC) is an antenna array processing technology currently simulating considerable Interest across the wireless industry. The invention provides a space-time coding apparatus having an input, a trellis encoder, a modulator, a demultiplexer, and a set of signal outputs wherein the input is operable to receive a stream of data. This allows de-multiplexing to take place after coding and modulation has been performed. The trellis encoder comprises a convolutional encoder operable to sequentially group data to provide coded bits to provide QPSK symbols. By the selection of convolutional encoder rates and/or modulation alphabets STCs of any desired dimensionality may be produced including multi-dimensional codes.
Abstract:
A mobile communication system includes at least three transmission antennas of first to third transmission antennas, and uses an overlapped antenna scheme for grouping the first and second transmission antennas into a first transmission antenna group and grouping the second and third transmission antennas into a second transmission antenna group. First and second modulators modulate L information bit streams to be transmitted through the first transmission antenna group and output first and second modulation symbol streams. Third and fourth modulators modulate L other information bit streams to be transmitted through the second transmission antenna group and output third and fourth symbol streams. First to fourth puncturers puncture at least one modulation symbol in a predetermined position among the first to fourth modulation symbol streams. A multiplexer transmits a modulation symbol stream output from the first puncturer through the first transmission antenna, transmits modulation symbol streams output from the second and third puncturers through the second transmission antenna after summation, and transmits a modulation symbol stream output from the third puncturer through the third transmission antenna.
Abstract:
A super set of space-time block codes is combined with set partitioning to form super-orthogonal space-time trellis codes having full diversity, enhanced coding gains, and improved rates. In communications systems, these codes are implemented by an encoder of a diverse transmitter to send an information signal to a receiver having one or more receiver elements. A decoder in the receiver decodes the encoded signal to reproduce the information signal. A method of the invention is used to generate set partitioning structures and trellis structures that enable code designers to systematically design the codes of the invention.
