    摘要: A method comprises pulling a continuous web to advance the web along a path of conveyance and to create tension in a lengthwise portion of the web; manipulating the web to cause the portion of the web at a point along the path to have a non-uniform tension across the width of the web, with a maximum tension being at a location spaced from the first longitudinal edge of the web, and with the tension decreasing from such location toward the first longitudinal edge of the web such that a zone in the web at the first longitudinal edge has reduced tension; and controlling transverse positioning of the first longitudinal edge in the zone of reduced tension. The reduced-tension zone is produced by a tension-reducing member about which the web is pulled.

    摘要: The magnetic tape manufacturing apparatus draws out a wide web-like magnetic tape material wound in roll form from the delivery side, slits the magnetic tape material into a plurality of narrow magnetic tapes by use of a slitter while transporting the magnetic tape material, and winds the narrow magnetic tapes on cores on the winding side through a tape transporting device. In the tape transporting device, roller members supporting the narrow magnetic tapes are mounted on supporting shafts, respectively, and an eddy current type clutch is internally mounted on at least one of the supporting shafts so that the eddy current type clutch controls rotation of the one of supporting shafts to control tension of the narrow magnetic tape supported on the roller member mounted on the one of supporting shafts. Hence, by making the tension of the individual magnetic tapes uniform, productivity and product quality can be stabilized and improved and yield can also be improved.

    摘要: A turning bar for contactless guidance of a tubular film web moved at a loop angle around the turning bar, including a support tube with a hollow interior, which can be connected with a compressed air source. The support tube has a plurality of air outlet openings which communicate with the interior and are spaced apart from each other, substantially over an entire width of the support tube within an angular area of the support tube corresponding to the loop angle of the tubular film web. An air-permeable microporous layer is applied to the exterior of the support tube and forms the surface of the latter, through which the compressed air exiting the air outlet openings of the support tube can flow. The compressed air exits the microporous layer as a laminar air flow, which forms a laminar air cushion between the turning bar and the tubular film web. An angular area in which the air outlet openings are formed in the support tube is increased with respect to the loop angle of the tubular film web. This invention also is for a method for contactless guidance of a tubular film web.

A relationship between web outgassing pressure and surface roughness of the web and web transporting rollers is developed. This relationship allows for the control over the web outgassing pressure. The ability to adjust the web tension pressure, as well as the selection of web transporting rollers with prescribed surface characteristics, allows an operator to control the degree to which the web floats over or tracks the web transporting roller. A controller, in response to pressure and tension sensors, can also provide dynamic, closed-loop control of the entire system.

    摘要: In connection with the unreeling of a paper or foil web from a supply reel, e.g. in a flowpacking machine, it is well known to move the web through an adjustment station for maintaining a constant tension of the web in the outer length thereof. Normally, this is achieved by the use of a synchronously driven unreeling roller partially entwined by the web and a system for adjusting the degree of entwining based on a current detection of the web tension. With the invention this is simplified by driving the unreeling roller with a peripheral speed noticeably higher than the web speed, whereby it is possible with a suitable angle of entwining to achieve both a relatively low web tension and an automatically self-adjusting, constant web tension. By virtue of the associated, rather low dynamic friction between the roller and the web, it is even possible to effectively control or maintain the lateral positioning of the web merely by the use of simple abutments for co-operation with the side edges of the web.
