摘要： A rotary cable treatment assembly for use on cables having a non-circular cross section formed from a stator that housing a rotor formed from two hydraulically sealing bearings. A cable having a non-circular cross section is passed through the assembly wherein a lubricant or high viscosity inhibitor is pressurized to about 3000 psi within the assembly causing the fluid to coat all internal strands that form the cable. The rotor and hydraulically sealing bearings rotate according to the helix of the cable to reduce or eliminate wear on the cable and sealing.

摘要： An apparatus for applying metered fluid such as sizing to an advancing individual yarn in a uniform manner. An elongated member includes at least one slot for receiving the advancing yarn and to bring the advancing yarn into contact with the metered fluid. The slot is defined by a width, a height and a length for affecting the distribution of the fluid on the advancing yarn. The length of the slot is dependent on the speed of the advancing yarn. The advancing yarn has a predetermined residence time in the slot as a function of the length of the slot and the speeding of the advancing yarn in the slot.

摘要： In an optical fiber coating method comprising the steps of; applying an injecting first coating resin to the outer periphery of the optical fiber while inserting the optical fiber through a first die hole provided in a first coating die; and applying an injected second coating resin onto the first coating resin while inserting the optical fiber through a second die hole provided in a second coating die. Wherein a disk-shaped upper end face of the second coating die and a basically disk-shaped lower end face of the first coating die having a protrusion formed around the first die hole and projecting in the passing direction of the optical fiber are opposed to each other so as to arrange the first and second die holes concentrically, and the second coating resin is injected into the second die hole by way of a gap formed between the lower end face of the first coating die and the upper end face of the second coating die, so as to reduce an annular lower-pressure region formed around the optical fiber in a flow of the second coating resin within the gap.

摘要： Coating is applied from a coating application chamber to a moving web or backing roll by a rotating premetering rod, a curved or straight wedge, or a premetering blade which is urged against the moving substrate by a plurality of profiling mechanisms which are spaced from one another in the cross machine direction to control the cross machine direction profile of the applied coating to avoid coating streaks. The profiling mechanisms may be hydraulic actuators, machine screws or thermal expansion driven pistons. Cross machine profiling of the premetering device allows control with minimum pressure on the web. Adjustments to the premetering device are only made where necessary to correct nonuniform coating application where detected.

摘要： An apparatus for applying a liquid composition to one or more fibers of a fan of fibers provides a housing defining an elongated passageway therethrough such that the fan of fibers travels along a path through the passageway. The apparatus further provides a plurality of centrifugal spray heads including at least a first centrifugal spray head mounted in the housing and supplied with the liquid composition under pressure for directing the liquid composition onto one or more fibers of the fan of fibers passing a first location of the path. A removable cover is attached to the forward pool section and includes a pair of depressions with guide surfaces on the bottom, spaced above the bottom of the tray to form a passageway between the cover and tray bottom. the cover has a rearward portion following a portion of the ridge, and a straight rearward edge extending transversely across the tray. An opening in the cover, extending from the forward edge permits the user to draw a strip of wallpaper from a roll located in the trough, through the passageway between the cover and tray, and out the forward end of the tray. Water in the pool portion wets the wallpaper as it is drawn from the dispensing apparatus.

摘要： An applicator for the deposition of size and other coating compositions onto the surfaces of reinforcing fibers, such as glass. The device may be used to apply aqueous or non-aqueous size to continuously formed fiber materials in a high speed forming process. The applicator may include an atomizing spray pre-applicator in combination with a slide-die applicator. The atomizing spray pre-applicator can be connected to a vacuum source, which increases contact of the spray with the fibers, and thereby improves coating coverage. The slide-die applicator may include a slide-die configuration that reduces leakage of the liquid coating. The process of using the invention can provide a more uniform thin film coating, higher coating efficiency, and better coating coverage than size applicators otherwise known in the art.
