摘要: A printer includes a conveyor to convey a tape having a plurality of marks in a conveyance direction, the marks including a first mark, and a second mark formed downstream of the first mark in the conveyance direction, a print head to print an image on the tape, a reflection sensor to detect the marks on the tape by emitting light toward the tape and receiving reflected light from the tape, and output a detection signal according to the reflected light when detecting the marks, and a controller. The controller is configured to set a threshold to be variable based on a level of the detection signal when the reflection sensor detects the second mark, and identify a position of the first mark based on a result of comparison between the threshold and a level of the detection signal when the reflection sensor detects the first mark.

摘要: A printing apparatus includes: a conveyor configured to convey a web print medium with holes arranged at a predetermined pitch in a conveyance direction; a printer configured to perform printing on the web print medium conveyed by the conveyor; a detector configured to detect the holes; and a controller. The controller is configured to drive the printer to start printing on the web print medium based on a timing at which a count value of the holes detected by the detector from start of conveyance of the web print medium by the conveyor reaches a setting value of a number of the holes located from the detector to a print start reference position on the web print medium at the start of conveyance of the web print medium by the conveyor.

摘要: Technology enabling accurately detected marks on a print medium according to the type of print medium is provided. A printer 1 has a media type identifier 110 that determines the type of medium; a mark sensor 76 that projects light and detects a mark on the medium; and an emittance controller 111 that sets the emittance level of the light the mark sensor 76 projects. The printer 1 can change the operating mode according to the type of medium M identified by the media type identifier 110. In the white medium mode, the mark sensor 76 detects a mark MR with the emittance level set to a white medium emittance level. In the non-white medium mode, the mark sensor 76 detects a mark MR with the emittance level set to a non-white medium emittance level, which is higher than the white medium emittance level.

摘要: In one example in accordance with the present disclosure, a printing system is described. The printing system includes multiple print engines to form printed marks on a substrate. Each print engine prints non-sequential pages of a print job. A sensor of the printing system detects, for each page, a trailing edge gap size and a leading edge gap size. A controller of the printing system, based on a difference between trailing edge gap sizes and leading edge gap sizes for a set of pages of a print job, adjusts a printing operation to equalize subsequent trailing edge gap sizes and leading edge gap sizes.
