摘要: An equipment trailer having swing-out side extensions provided at each side thereof to enable the overall width of the trailer to be increased when over-width loads are to be carried. Each of the side extensions comprises a plurality of elongated arms pivotally mounted at their inner ends to a side frame member of the trailer and having a vertically disposed rail member pivotally secured to the outer ends thereof. All of the extension arms may be pivotally moved to their outer position by simply grasping the rail member and pivotally moving the same between its inner and outer positions. Locks are provided for locking the side extensions in their inner and outer positions. A modified form of the invention is also shown wherein a hydraulic cylinder is utilized to pivotally move the side extensions.

摘要: An extendible trailer system (10) which is adapted to be coupled to the cab of a vehicle and is reversibly extendible in both the longitudinal direction (14) as well as the transverse direction (16). The extendible trailer system (10) includes a first trailer frame (18) having an extended length in longitudinal direction (14). System (10) further includes a second trailer frame (18) which is extended in longitudinal direction (14). Releasable coupling mechanism (36) allows coupling of second trailer frame (20) to the first trailer frame (18) and allows for the second trailer frame (20) to be at least partially and slidably inserted into coupling relation with the first trailer frame (18). A transverse extension mechanism (84) is provided on both the first trailer frame (18) and the second trailer frame (20) to allow for a reversible extension and retraction of the overall width of extendible trailer system (10) in transverse direction (16).

摘要: Relates to a lightweight electric battery powered motor vehicle which is divisible into separable front, middle and rear sections. The front section includes a pair of steerable road engaging wheels, the middle section includes a seating compartment for two or three persons, and the rear section includes a single road engaging drive wheel driven by an electric motor and support for batteries and controls therefor. The basic supporting structure of the vehicle is served by a double set of longitudinally extending main frame members each preferably of tubular cross-section and extending through the middle section and into the front and rear sections of the vehicle. The front and rear sections of the vehicle include sleeve-like appurtenances which telescopingly fit over the terminal ends of the tubular frame members thereby enabling the front and rear sections to be easily slid off for repairs or replacement. A passenger compartment is supported by the mid-sections of the vehicle's main frame members in such a manner as to yieldingly resist slidable movement of the compartment in the fore and aft direction of the vehicle in the event of receiving a severe bumper shock.

摘要: A steering mechanism particularly suited for vehicles of the type having a variable width track. The steering mechanism is flexible enabling it to automatically extend and retract laterally along with the track of the wheels of the vehicle. The mechanism acts on steering arms of the steerable wheels of a vehicle to simulate a conventional tie rod type of steering geometry. During turning, the inner wheel turns more than the outer wheel to minimize tire slippage or scrub. A flexible steering linkage assembly is connected between the steering arm ends of the pair of steerable wheels to maintain controlled spatial relationship between them which results in a simulation of tie rod steering geometry.
