Abstract: Various methods and apparatus for supporting positioning of a user equipment (UE) in a wireless network are disclosed. In some embodiments, a wireless network node may be configured to define one or more groups of antennas associated with a wireless network node, each of the one or more groups of antennas grouped according to at least a phase-based parameter correlated with an electromagnetic characteristic of a plurality of antennas; send, to a network entity, data identifying the defined one or more groups of antennas; receive configuration data from the network entity, the configuration data identifying at least one of the one or more groups of antennas; and based on the configuration data, send or receive reference signals with the wireless network node using the identified at least one of the one or more groups of antennas, the reference signals configured to be used in the positioning of the UE.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A transmitted may use a closed loop precoder for line-of-sight (LOS) multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) communications that uses information such as distance feedback or LOS MIMO channel state feedback. A closed loop precoder may be associated with less overhead than a precoder based on full channel knowledge, such as an SVD precoder. A receiver may estimate a channel based on channel state information reference signals transmitted by the transmitter and calculate a spectral efficiency for one or more precoders of a set of precoders associated with the channel for a LOS MIMO mode. The receiver may send feedback to the transmitter that indicates a selected precoder of the set of LOS MIMO precoders based on the calculated spectral efficiencies. The transmitter may precode messages using the reported closed loop precoder.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A wireless device (e.g., a base station) may transmit, to a user equipment (UE), an indication of a field type of a field between the UE and the wireless device. The indication of the field type may include one or more bits indicating the field type, a measure indicating a likelihood that the field type includes a first field type as compared to a second field type, an indication that the first type is the same as a second field type configured at the UE, or any combination thereof. The UE may select between a first set of beam weight vectors and a second set of beam weight vectors based on the field type. The UE may communicate, with the base station, a reference signal using a beam generated using a first beam weight vector from the selected set.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for connection setup in an orbital angular momentum (OAM)-based communication system are described. A first device and a second device may establish an OAM communications connection between the devices. The first device and the second device may exchange a series of messages over a downlink communications link and an uplink communications link according to an OAM mode. Based on OAM related parameters or OAM related information included in the messages, the first device and the second device may achieve a successful directional alignment (co-axial alignment) between the first device and the second device. The first device and the second device may determine one or more orbital angular momentum modes for communication between the first device and the second device based on the establishing the directional alignment.

Abstract: Embodiments include methods for managing component temperatures in wearable devices by a remote computing device, such as an edge server, instructing changes in wearable device component processing loads, operations or operating modes. Methods performed in a wearable device receiving data from an edge server may include obtaining a plurality of temperature measurements from a plurality of hardware components, transmitting the temperature measurements to the edge server, receiving an instruction related to operations of an application executing on the processor of the wearable device, and adjusting an operating parameter based on the received instruction. Methods performed in the edge server include receiving the temperature measurements from the wearable device, identify one or more adjustments to operations of the plurality of hardware components based on the plurality of temperature measurements, and sending the wearable device an instruction to adjust operations of at least one of the plurality of hardware components.
